Pressfit BB replacement?

Hi Hubbers,

The BB on my demo 8 decided to stop working...the cranks have vertical wobbling and the bearings looked like someone stuffed mud in them. cleaned it out put new grease.wobbling is ridiculously loose now and unride-able

What options are there for replacing the bearings or the full BB?

specs from Spez's website, don't have a clue on press fit BB's. I'm not sure what spec to buy Etc and compatibly.

Have a look at the Wheels Manufacturing website for a BB that will fit your frame and crank and then ask your lbs to order one for you.

Wheels are by far the best when it comes to PF BBs. See if you can get the one that screws together in the middle - they last forever and the bearings are replaceable. Give Rush Sports a call - they will be able to tell you which one fits your bike.

While Wheels Manufacturing are fantastic, they are expensive and take a long time to get to SA.

Why not have a look at Token locally - give Warren a shout. I have used their products and have been a happy customer.

Rush Sports are agents and stock a wide range of Wheels Manufacturing BB's as well as replacement bearings for them.

Expensive yes, but there are places that stock them locally. Like me.

Also, the WheelsMFG conversions are fit and forget - they thread together inside the frame and won't creak or slip, and the bearings are replaceable for about R 150 a side.

Are they recommended for a road bicycle as well?

Go check out Token's Ninja BB:

They also screw into each other for fit and forget.

This will be my replacement when my Cannondale's PF starts creaking again.

(And I had superb service from Warren in the past).

Yup, I have in mine - just be sure to order the right one for your frame.  The screw  together one for the older BB86/92 comes in 24mm Shimano or 24/22 Sram.  When you go to BB30, PF30 and some unique frame designs you have to be more careful but all the info is on the Wheels Manufacturing site.
