Is the real road bike dead

If nobody aired their views on social media, then there would be no social media to speak of.

There are views and then there are pointless views that achieve nothing at the end of the day.... and real road bikes will still be around in 30 years from now... same as they have been for the last 100 years..... so really what was the OP trying to air?.... his personal dislike of what he believes the road bikes are going to become?.... and that we are all going to follow like sheep and buy into it..... considering that the majority of us will never be able to afford these fancy super bikes.... we will still be riding our real bikes.... but will discuss the pro's and con's of technology progress!!... and air these views on social media... so as to speak of ;)

You guys are so sensitive. It's only bicycles we are talking, not politics.

Perhaps you need to ask the OP why he is so sensitive about these super bikes which are pushing the boundaries (mainly because the tube profile rules that are being relaxed), after all they are not going to have an affect in his life.  He has already stated he cannot afford a GPS computer, so will unlikely be forking out for the latest technology bike......so why is he so sensitive about how road bikes are developing?

He's just sour because he can't afford a tricked-out new steed.

Is there only one fast frame design or several of them? Question was once asked by a GCN presenter.

If there's only fast design, then that's the one I want to ride. PM me. I won't tell anyone.

Ive had a really crappy day so this thread has been great fun. The funniest comment was the one referencing a gps so as not to get lost. Ive never used mine for that! I've got some freinds to ride with so usually between us we have a clue. Real men use their garmins for logging a ride for strava!

When you read all the research on frames, wheels and parts and how many watts and seconds can be saved then bikes should be moving on their own   :whistling:

EXACTLY!!! All the "saved" watts are more than I put out.

Not so long ago the MTB industry was shoving stiffness down our throats. If all their claims of stiffness were true my teeth would shatter every time I swung a leg over a bike.

Didnt know you MTBers liked taking a stiffie down your throat... must be a hairy leg thing, each to their own I suppose.

Never used GPS on my bike, I've also never been lost.

So for me to cough up all that money for a GPS so I don't get lost would be a waste of my money.

Clearly you are not the target market these "soft and comfortable" bikes are marketed towards.

reminds me of a rant I heard around a fire one day, this old Oom was moaning that Discovery's Vitality program as it just costs people money. Meanwhile he is on a different medical aid,

The mind boggles.
