To angry man riding past Blairgowrie Primary this morning…

He was on a mountain bike. In his defence, he looked super professionally kitted out.

They always do.

Why, oh why do you feel the needed to be greeted by everyone you see on the trail, on the road, on the mountain.

Get some friends...

I do not know you, probably do not want to know you, so why must I greed you.  Do you greed every motorist when in your car, or every person in the mall when you walk past them.  Come one man, get over it.

Motor cyclists greet each other all the time out on the road. Why can't cyclists do it?I like saying hi to my fellow sportsman out enjoy the fresh air and outdoors.

he has a point i dont go cycling to make friends - its an "individual sport" - if you want to wave at people and have then wave back get a controversial placard and stand on a street corner :whistling:

otherwise just ride yer bike

Think it is a Cape Town thing.  Always thought that it was on up in Gauteng where cyclists tend to greet each other as when I was in Cape Town I noticed that you have a better chance of being bitten by a shark than to be greeted on your bicycle.  As I came here to Germany I thought it would be similar to Cape Town as the Germans have a reputation for not being very friendly. Turns out they greet pretty much at the same ratio as Gauteng.

None the less I don't get all emotional when someone does not return my greeting.  It just says a bit about your character though. When I get into a lift with other people I also greet, not because I want new friends, I just think it is a polite gesture.

But somehow I think this thread is being hijacked from a D@@s trying to run over school kids with his bike to why we should be greeting.

The greeting thing, I always figured we were a kind of a brotherhood of sorts... runners, cyclists, just fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Had no idea a little nod of the head or 'mornin' was so tough on some. Maybe greetings should be logged on Strava, might make it all worthwhile...

They are the biggest tossers on the road, especially towards cars. Think they can squeeze in everywhere and act all macho on Sunday breakfast rides..............would love to see them try pedal a bicycle, lets see who is tough then ?

This is not the same. When I walk in the mall, everyone is walking so no. When I ride my car majority are riding their car so no. When I go to a bike race everyone is on a bike so no. When riding my bike training and I see another cyclist, runner i do greet.

So you measure toughness on whether someone can ride a bicycle or not? Interesting

Lane splitting mostly

Surely that is a debate akin to some comparisons to cycling where it comes down to attitude? Lane splitting is legal, but like you get cyclists riding indifferently, you get motorcyclists riding indifferently. There are motorcyclists that lane split responsibly and there are also ******* lane splitting recklessly- doesn't make them all bad people?
