By local I mean the LBS, the butcher, the greengrocer etc etc. Historically, by supporting local stores who in turn support other local stores etc, then we have community and local growth. By buying everything for the cheapest possible price from international businesses, we do the opposite. Not saying you are wrong, just pointing out the inevitable decline of local retail and the centralisation of profit that results. We will be selling the Trail 7 for R3999 and Trail 5 for R4499 (both 2016 models). Our distribution and merchandise teams believe that the Trail 7 should be in all Makro stores by Friday 21st September with the second drop of Trail 7 and Trail 5 stock coming into stores around the 5th October. Put your mind at ease and know that all the components are original and the bikes have not been de-specced in any way. This is not a scam nor is it a Black Friday deal, Makro is here to ensure that you get more of what you want, at a better price. We have plenty of stock, but like all good things, they are not unlimited, (hint: we have more than 1 000 of these babies) and this is a store only deal. We will continue to communicate more information - this is exciting and our buyers have done a proper job on this one, so thanks for the interest. P.S We are offering assembly by professional bike personnel at no extra cost.P.P.S I am not supposed to do this but I'm gonna give you a sneak peek into next week's deal, starting 21 September. (see attached photo) Isn't there only a 27.5 size in the Trail 5 2016 model? Unless I'm missing something and it is in fact a 27.5 which isn't consistent with the flyer. Just a heads up Edit: Called Makro and they advised both models are 29". Mmmmm different year model maybe? I get way more useful information about my target purchases from online sources than any salesman has ever given me.So where do you believe the extra money to pay for that nice dealership/shop is going to come from if not from the customer's pocket ? Salesman : well I dont totally disagree with you there, way to many sales people with no product knowledge.But whilst you're busy with him asking questions you know he cant answer, he misses a customer or 3 that would have actually bought from the store rather than online. you'll be surprised by how many people want to actually touch and dell and demo before buying online or somewhere else cheaper. kosmonooit Posted September 17, 2018 Share Cannondale bikes can not be bought here on line anywhere as far as I know (besides these Macro specials) - even if you try buy one on-line in the US or elsewhere, they will not ship for export, they are not allowed by way of their dealer agreement. Both are under threat from large corporations and supermarket type stores, where the profit generated does not stay in the community in which the business is located. Dorel Sports, brands include Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, Caloi, Roadmaster, Iron Horse and SUGOI. Dorel is struggling to make consistent profits for it's shareholders since 2016. Surely they would like to do business with other big International Retail Groups in order to improve their position ? Bike Brands are not owned by cyclists they are owned by Shareholders.
