Reinet Marais Posted October 28, 2022 Share I survived my first ever night ride. Not yet sure how I feel about it. The best thing from a night ride, is the fact that you cannot see further than the beams of your bike light. Which might be a blessing in disguise, otherwise I wouldn’t have made it back in one whole piece. I have seen a Cape Eagle-Owl, but was unfortunately too dark for me to take a photo. And the people enjoyed making me scared of scorpions, spiders and cobra’s, so my feet barely touched ground. Have set two new PR’s today (I know it’s not great yet), but I’m slowly getting there. An old trail that you know like the back of your hand becomes something completely different. Besides the visual aspect, the smells and sounds also change, everybody has to do at least one night ride in their life!
