I know that skin suits are banned for their aero effect (and I'm glad we don't have to see the racers in them), but how much could they maybe gain from making the bikes more aero? It doesn't seem to be a big focus with dh racing. For starters, that huge number plate at the front has to create some drag.

funnily enough, Ben Cathro can answer that question for you, and IIRC, he mentioned a while back that the time savings going cat suit is big: almost double digit seconds worth. In other words, it makes mid pack riders look like contenders.

But does it look cool? no hell no. so it don't fly.

current gear is coming close though.

This video is a few years old already, but the results are actually insane.

If memory recalls, the UCI made a conscious effort to emulate the look of MX in DH, so that's why they did away with the skin suits. I also think things like peaked helmets are compulsory.

Do the rules not state that you need to be able to grab a fist full of the clothing ....... not sure who of you want to grab a fist full of Pierron though!.

Talking about rules... @Nigelhicks a while back explained the rules around hosting a uci world cup event. .. race village had to be close to a town and the venue had to be within 2 hours or something if an international airport...Snowshoe if in the middle of nowhere. Nearest international airport 3 hours away
