one of our commuters in the group checked his garmin for this mornings temp on the commute ... min of 2deg and max of 6deg .... it was fresh!

On one of my first commutes this year I expected -2 but ended up in -6.  Now that ... is fresh!

Question.  On a family outing this weekend we ended up having 6 people to go to a lake some 70 km from home.  So I decided to commute as we did not have space in the car. The ride is logged as a single ride as I only paused it there and continued recording as I rode back in the afternoon.  Would you guys accept it as a commute?

3 days’ commuting left … then a week at the Jhb office, … and a few days later I have one and a half weeks of holidaying. Will miss out on at least 400 to 500 commuting km’s ….. but will do some other pedaling in the Transkei :)

Going to have to play catch-up when I get back again :)

I’d say “that’s a commute”!

I dont know how you guys in colder climates do it.

I rode sunday morning. My Garmin says that temp was 6deg, but with wind chill I estimate it got to 0 at least. I had long cycling pants, long top with cycling top over, winter gloves and buff over my ears and mouth. I still froze.

We met a cyclist walking with his helmet in his hand this morning, looking disorientated ... I asked him if he was ok, and he said he was just mugged at gun point by 3 x persons at the N1 underpass on the Cycle Lanes, where all the recent muggings have been.

Please be aware and ride in a group if you can.

Ah flip man. Sorry for him. Glad they didn't harm him physically.

I was the same when living in SA.  The moment the temps went below 5 I started reconsidering.  Moving here it became a matter of adapt or die (my cycling)
