Yeah sacrilege....if I had the resources to burn $ like that I would want it to at least sound like a spitfire

 

I suppose in this day and age and in future the maintenance on the turbo prop engine would be easier compared to the traditional piston engine.

I wonder where they would get Merlin engines now? Are those rebuilds of existing engines?

If you had mega-bucks to spare, starting up a small scale RR Merlin block casting factory could be pretty lucrative, and if you are in for penny you may as well make the other bits too. Those engines are scarce now that every Tom, Cruise and Harry has a P51.

I went and stood up on the roof of the ERM when the first Air France A380 came in. It was a chilly day if I recall correctly . . .

Landing from the south today, I was hoping for a northerly approach so I could watch from the bedroom window :(

At least you know the weather should be ok ????

 

Having lived in that area for most of my life I noticed that northern approaches (landing over Kemptonpark) were mostly associated with cold fronts approaching
