Sorry for Dlamini, stand-up guy but as said above, some class to beat DD like that.

Thanks to Matt Smith for commentating and Streamit360 for coverage.

Edit: Spelling.

The footage was adequate, enough to follow the action as best as possible. It just puts the World Tour coverage into perspective - on another level.

I liked that Impey trumped Di-Data, even though it would have been okay to see one of the Di-Data riders in the rainbow (SA rainbow) colours.

Maincheese was a usual disappointment, but this wasn’t a mountain they were going up. Even if he sat DI’s wheel, he would never have been able to sit of on the wheel after TJ drive.

The two best riders in SA have won their respective Elite titles. Kudos to them.

I think the commentator was clueless

He had clearly no idea of the form and strength of Impey and wrote him off when there was still quite a bit of racing left.

Impey is just in a different class to any local rider.... probably the best cyclist this country ever produced.

Sarcasm I pressume???

It was not a given that Impey was going to close that, drop DD (especially Gibbons), ride across and win. Regardless of his form.

Incredible effort by him.

I'd still rather have that commentator and some coverage than no coverage like we've seen other years where you hope for some titbits from Twitter or whatever else source you might have had

Great ride by Darryl. Glad to have been there to see him win both titles this year with dominant performances.

I for one am happy that we have a genuine world class rider representing us by winning world tour events. Sure Tour Down Under isn't the biggest event, but what have our other riders brought home?

To the okes who dislike him, that is your free will and you are welcome to dislike him. We can't wipe his doping finding under the carpet, but he was acquitted, albeit under debateble circumstances. Is it safe to assume that you guys will always bring that up? Would you have been happier if he took the punishment, waited out his suspension and came back and then dominated? Is there any scenario where you would have given him his dues today?

If you guys can live in glass houses, then great for you. I for one cannot say that I have never in my life not done anything that is outside of the rules, like declaring a lunch with family as a business expense or gliding through that 4-way stop in your car or on your bike... mmm?

If you are a fan that cool, but you will need to accept that people will always bring that up, even you admit it was under “debatable circumstances”.

But unwind those knickers and rather let’s just give him the moment. Don’t focus on the chirps, they are just chirps.
