I won't have support on the day but would love to have a couple of peanut butter and banana sarmies later in the day to lift my spirits. I don't normally do this but I also don't normally enter 100milers so this is all new to me. How do you go about wrapping/packing your sarmies so that they aren't mush by the time you want to chow them? Do you perhaps eat them earlier rather than later?

i really don’t think it’s necessary. There will be enough on the tables to eat but if you really have to then tin foil or cling wrap. It’s going to be mushy once it goes down anyway. Edited by milky4130

Anyone know if the 100miler is gravel bike-appropriate?

Yup,  Current record is on gravel bike.

The 100 mile option, although strenuous is a much easier ride than some of the other 100’s out there, with the course record, held by Erik Kleinhans, standing at a phenomenal 05h33. This should highlight the fact that, despite some proper climbs, that the route is fast and flowing. Erik broke the record using a gravel bike with front suspension, and more and more riders are bringing their gravel bikes to this event. Just a note to the rest of the field, he beat the 2nd place rider by 30 minutes...

Is it really still a gravel bike if you use a front suspension?

Not that I blame him, those miles of corrugations would be seriously crap on a rigid fork.

You can't escape destiny....

Anyone got any info on condition of the roads. They were great last year... have the rains impacted them?

Was hoping for a 'no way man. Trail bike all the way' so I can sleep in with a clear conscience... Sigh. Let's go and see what I can manage

Excited everyone???

So from what I’ve heard (doing it the first time) the toughest part of the race is from 100km?

If this is true I will take it easy on the first 100km and save some petrol for the last 60km and still hoping to make cutt-off ????

Enjoy the race everyone and be safe.

I'll be on a black gravel bike. Will you be my friend?

Bike, helmet, shoes, race number, water bottles, snacks, sense of humour, willingness to suffer. And remember to have fun

Does anyone have a checklist for those of us that suffer from severe pre-race jitters?
