Puncture Kid Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 So Friday there was a notice from Tygerberg club that Lombard's terra at Bloemendal is closed off for maintenance. And just as I thought on Monday a big rant & photos on the club FB page on how riders ignored the tape & closed signs and destroyed the work of the maintenance team. I guess that is why us mtb'ers don't deserve nice things in life... Makes my blood boil

But ja all wishful seeing as it is a free access for all. I wonder how long its gonna stay that way. Way too many issues over the years.

I won't go into details, but these guys are the more honourable and brave ones in the bunch. Thanks for reaching out.Unfortunately we have had other riders through on a daily basis since. Some this morning after the heavy rains yesterday, some (MTB guided tour operators) on Sunday after we did maintenance on Saturday (see first pic for trail porn). This is still not cool, but you are the minority and we'll get rid of you eventually.To the vast majority who are awesome, here's what's going to happen:On Monday 17 June (public holiday) we'll be doing a community trail maintenance day. I'll post specifics as an event on the page. Whoever participates will have a say in determining when and how trails will be reopened.Judging by the response to last weeks post (see pic) we may have too many hands, but we'll take any amount. eddy Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Meanwhile, I am happy that the Spruit is 5 minutes from home (as it is for so many up here), that Jozi Trails are working hard to make it safe and enjoyable for riders and walkers, that Hollard is being generous in its support, that S&J provide good service and coffee without leaving the trail and that Delta Cafe does the same with beer and pizza. Mostly I am happy to enjoy and appreciate all this without it becoming an existential crisis and being encouraged to leave the country.

It’s a privilege not a right.They have an attitude of what you gonna do etc. I used to ride with people like this. They refuse to pay and will think nothing of riding a closed trail. All because they want to and no one is gonna stop them. First time they didnt pay, I had it out with them, then avoided them. Ended up riding again with them through someone else, which resulted with my riding on my own half through the ride and leaving. Last I have seen or heard from them. Note this was not eden side.Just want to state that I believe its a majority of people that has this attitude. You can see it on the roads as well. refusal to stop at stop streets, hog the right lane while driving 40km/h etcHowever I also blame our laws for this. Its way too lenient and people know when they break a law they come off lightly.
