Horizontal vs Vertical shock

If you buying second hand horizontal (older) models are cheaper.

Horizontal seems to be "older" technology.

Scott spark changed from horizontal to vertical recently.

Love the industry. Each time a company released a new linkage / platform it was followed by all the reasons it was awesome and then as soon as the patent on Spez' horst link type expires it was ditch everything and change.

Scott duallies always used to have a "vert" shock on their origional suspension design .. then the Spaz boys and girls took legal action against them as they felt that the Scott design was a Horst Link design, which Spaz held the patent to. Courts ruled in Spaz's favour.

Scott then went the Single Pivot route, until recently that they can go back to a horst link (See the Genius Range for ref).

I had two of the previous iterations, Scott's when they were still HL's design (The RC and MC designs) and they were great rides.

The slacker your shock is the easier it will descent. Or is that the forkses?

I've owned 3 horizontalish shock bikes and one vertical. Its all about the look. Horizontal looks better to me.

I did my first in 1991 at the age of 6. Have not missed a year since. This year was my 28th(would have been 29 if it weren't for the cancelled one). I recently turned 35 so if my maths is correct I was 26 when I did my 21st. My toppie has done 30. My boet 12 and my Mom 2 but they don't ride anymore. So 72 in the family.

I hope you and your son continue to rack up those finishes, its good bragging rights among cyclist', as it's the only race worth bragging about.

That's an insane record that just won't be repeated

I like it hard when I really put the power down, but a bit of cushion for the pushin' definitely doesn't go unnoticed and appreciated... :P

Please leave your couch out of this....!!

Bones, muscles, ligaments, what ever else can feel old feels old. I think 3 kids added many years onto my body

First Argus @6, 3 kids by 35.....

There goes the theory that Ertjies Bezuidenhout was previously known as Pere Bezuidenhout :w00t:
