Depending on what is in the goodie bag, if we get one, a few years back there was a coupon to go up the mountain. It was like a buy one get one free. We obviously had 2 and it was before I had kids and my wife was with me and my folks so all 4 of us went up and only paid for 2.

What is also not too badly priced is a cruise out of the harbor, We did it about 3 years ago and I was surprised at how reasonably priced it was.

Obviously non of this is for free but it also isn't ridiculously priced and both Girls should enjoy.

Walking around V&A waterfront is free but the problem is you spend money while there............

Aquarium..........Haven't been in years and not sure on entrance. They should enjoy.

What is on your list? I might need it in a few years time for my boys.......

not all of it is free, but some of the stuff on the list

The mountain bru. Even though its a bit pricey it has to be done, cant take them to cape town and not go up

Aquarium - although they've done other ones so this is just a backup option

Feed ths squirrels - if thats still a thing.

Penquins

Boat trip from the water front. Maybe to seal island

sun set from lions head

Science Centre

There is a scratch patch and cave place apparently.

Ofcourse days on teh beach are always a winner too.

so plenty to do for them. Just have to time things right according to the moods.

Aquarium is awesome, not sure of the prices even though i went in April last year haha, but a definite, they have some cool exhibits.

You don't get on the beach. The beach sucks anyway. It's PACKED with tourists taking snappys and you get no closer to the penguins than if you just cruise along the walkway around the back.

plus the only time you want to go onto the beach there is if you want to swim with the penguins.

R70 gets you on a boat out of Hout Bay harbor around the sentinel to the Seal Island. Pretty cool and not expensive. They say it's a glass bottom boat but that is stretching the definition IMO.

glass -> fibre glass its all the same thing :)

That's where I am lucky with 3 boys. Don't have to worry as much about that.

Google the "Hop on, Hop off" train from Cpt station to Simonstown. It used to be quite affordable, and you can get on and off at any station on the route. You can then explore the area where you got off, and return to the station for the next train. Rail ends as you enter Simonstown, but it is a short walk in any case. This is a great all day adventure.

Best of all is the stretch that hugs the shore, kiddies will enjoy that.

We did a really cool thing over new years 2 years ago. Did a Kayak paddle from Simons Town. Round the harbor to the penguin beaches. It was AMAZING!

Not cheap. R350pp If i recall correctly but it was a great experience. It's HIGHLY weather dependent tho.

the wife and I wanted to do that last year, but the weather was crap the entire time we were down there.

not going to happen with the 2 girls though. will save that for when they're older.

I have used the train from Fish Hoek to the start before and as a joburger it is really pretty cool-even in the dark. I came back with it once after the race and it really is a good experience. There is NO WAYS we can use the train up here. Never in a millions years is it even an option.

I have boats and paddles you can borrow. I have a sit on top Fluid Synergy I bought for Expedition racing training. You and the 2 girls can happily fit. You're welcome to borrow it.

There are also awesome, very accessible caves above kalk bay which you guys can explore for free with a head torch.

Scratch patch in Simon's Town, Cave Golf and scratch patch I still think costs less than 25zar per person.

Super tubes in Muizenberg is still going........

I seriously hope you Cape Town okes don't expect us Joburgers to come up with cool stuff to do when you come up for 947.

Aquarium-We have a zoo and that is not too bad.

Mountain-there is apparently some cable car thing by haarties that is pretty cool.

Scratch patch-pick a pot hole and see what you can find.

Water park-only reason I go to wild waters is to check the planes coming in to land.
