Not many people realise this..

My big blade is a 56.................. My last sub 3 was in 2018 as I was still fairly fit and that year we did Edinburg in the big blade but went down to the 44 small blade for Smits, Chappies and Suikerbossie. This is a tandem obviously but tbh I don't think I would be able to do the whole race in the big blade on my single bike. I am more a spin it to win it guy rather than a mash for cash.

I'm a mash for cash guy, but there is noway I'm strong enough to big blade it up there.

I've ridden the Argust 39/15 in sub 03:20.

You can definitely get over all the hills in your big blade, especially with the gear ratios these days.

Some really nice father/son tandem gave me a tow through the M3 and on the flats round Cape Point.... Black Cannondale.. wasn't you LongWheelBase?!

wont matter...i'm entered, so there will be a gale force headwind all the way around so that you'll need your granny going down hill. Add to that the rain setting in from houtbay... just to make sure you cant make time up going down chappies - as you dodge ambulances for people who thought they could.  :P

No, not us. We do own a dark blue Cannondale but it has never raced the CTCT. Our race rig is a bright orange BURLEY with DEEEEEEP section carbon hoops. But I will be more than happy to tow any single bike, gears or not, on the fast sections as long as you do the same on the hills.

WOW good price. Who with? Normal price or with some sort of discount through Vitailty etc? I paid R1811 on Mango with my 50% Momentum discount.

I paid just over R1500 with Kulula over the weekend.

Admittedly flying down on Saturday morning at around 8 and back on Wednesday midmorning.

It gets me there to collect bike and register by lunchtime on Saturday, have a check the bike out ride back to where I am staying in Greenpoint and a few days to see my daughters at UCT afterwards.

Yeah that is a bargain. I am flying down on Saturday at 10H25 and back up on Sunday at 15H55. IICR the 2 return flights on either side were both slightly cheaper but didn't think I would make it back in-time for the earlier one and the later one would mean I miss saying good night to my kids for 2 nights in a row.

EDIT: Folks are going down 2 weeks before as Toppie is doing the MTB race and they will register for me. Also gives me just enough time to do a quick bike check.

Any faster and it will have to involve an air drop ;)

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that think that they are in WT race going down there racing for the win

Did that the year that it was cancelled. Never again. Cape Town wants me to stay longer otherwise it gets angrier than a pregnant woman.

This is true, but you step one foot wrong and your head comes clean off.
