and dont forget the ugly green club 21 shirt and the all important bragging rights.

I've got 5 more to go to get there.

Yeah that shirt is pretty bleh, it needs a fresh look. The rest of the stuff is pretty cool though.

My club 21 shirt hangs on display in my cycling corner with my SUB 3 kit :whistling:

Eina, what happened?

Was busy scouting the MTB Challenge route in Boschendal on Saturday, got lost, played with my GPS to figure out where I am while riding a straight forward dirt road between the vinyards at max 25kmh and didn't pay attention to what's in front of me. Front wheel caught a boulder, hands made a X-up, me OTB straight onto my head/chin/shoulders/wind uit/ and knee on the boulder. I was lekker deurmekaar for a few minutes just lying there contemplating my life decisions.. Didn't think a doc was necessary at first, but when bleeding still didn't stop 6 hours later I had to go in. Lekker deep hole down to my patella. They could luckily glue it instead of two or three stitches, but out of action for at least a week or two.

Most convenient is probably to park in the Waterfront. It is safe and secure. Just go early. It is a nice short ride to the start at the Grand Parade together with many other riders doing the same. The Waterfront has enough to keep the family entertained for however long you ride and is close enough for them to walk to the finish in Green point to cheer you over the line. You will have to message or phone them from Suikerbossie or thereabouts to warn them that you are going to be there soonish. Or have them track your phone? Otherwise it is a bit of a hit and miss thing with the many riders streaming in, all looking about the same after a while.

Alternatively you can buy a ticket for the VIP parking next to the Stadium, but you have to do that well in advance or it will be full. You cannot get in there on race day.

Whatever you do, just enjoy it. The vibe is as amazing as the route. Sure you can race it, sure you can try and do your best, but if you miss out on the fun part, then, in my book at least, you have lost.

I used to park in the Parkade or in one of the many parking garages in town.Breeze down to the start and back after the ride.Cruise out on to the highway and be home in no time. Also very handy if you are an earlier finisher to go across Kloof Nek down to Camps Bay to watch the fun
