CJ Van Posted October 23, 2019 Share Um the car will be in Lourensford...car will be fine for day 2Jaco, jy hoef nie in die village te slaap om 'n sak deur te stuur nie. Drop jou sak met droe klere en stuff by die DHL trokkies. Maak net seker jy merk dit mooi. Niemand wil na die tyd in nat lycra rond loop nie maar meer belangrik, niemand wil jou na die tyd in nat lycra sien nie. + Ryperd +, Jako De Wet, PhilipV and 2 others
PhilipV Posted October 23, 2019 Share Can anyone do a bag drop on race morning? We are not sleeping in the tents, live close enough, so driving through each day. I was wondering if we can pack a bag with warm clothes for afterwards on day 1?I believe you can. Drop it off with the campers, and you will find It with their bags at OV. I'd suggest using I bag that offers some protection against water, odds are if it is pissing with rain and the wind is pumping, that the bags will be exposed. Water resistant duffel bag is ideal. Will drive through ourselves Saturday/Sunday. @CJ Van: Ja nee, en in daai koue weer gaan daar anyways nie veel wees om te sien deur die skipant nie

milky4130 Posted October 23, 2019 Share If it’s raining on Friday and depending on how much rain fell over night I would not ride either days at all. The post race bill is just not worth it ????

Dicky DQ Posted October 24, 2019 Share Anyone know where I can book last minute bike service for saturday?Do not do this! Especially considering the mud we are going to encounter. Just change brake pads and get another 2 sets. You might need one per day if it is going to be as wet as they say. If there is mud any benefit that a service may have brought will be gone in the 1st hour and you will hear ZARS burning with every pedal stroke. Then after the ride take the bike in and rebuild. Jako De Wet Posted October 24, 2019 Share Why is the rain so heavy on brake pads? Because of the mud on the rotors?
DieselnDust Posted October 24, 2019 Share If the mud cakes up on the calipers it will be a grinding paste between the pad and rotor. If you don't use the brakes then no problem, rock on.the rain on day1 won't really be the problem. It's the mud on day 2 that will be a challenge. Last year I wore out a chain in 40km.... babse Posted October 24, 2019 Share New pair of pads (metal) before the start of the race and you should be fine... considering you dont ride on the breaks and actually pedal the bike. I'd definitely be more worried about stuffing up a drive-train in the heavy rain. Maybe keep your second bottle for water to clean over your drive train and some lube every so often. It will help.
