He let him go cause he couldn’t follow it was to fast and hard for him. So essentially he was dropped.

Interesting perspective, a little hard for me to not read a bit bias and a whole lot of pride in that statement. That said he is a serious talent and an absolute joy to watch. As I stated before I genuinely think that he'll be a GT winner sooner rather than later. He just radiates that kind of confidence in his abilities as a cyclist.

I see just a shade under 7 w/kg up the climb.... Yoh!

A good result today for UAE.

Where was Formolo today? Or is his day coming tomorrow? I thought we would see him up the road in week one with his current form, but then I suppose it might be a bit early to play those cards!

I will wish you good luck to go with your fantastic preparation and planning.

A stage win and the Pog looking strong. 2 exciting weeks to come hopefully.

what is this long game? I can't see how he will not get more tired as the tour progresses. They're not on training rides. The pace was high yesterday and many rodents paid the price today, Pinot included

The long game is what Bernal played last year.  He could be doing it again.

very different circumstances. He was essentially sheltered in the bunch all day last year. Didn't follow any breaks, just sat there quietly. This year he's marked, he's being tested and being found wanting.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the kid, he's a huge talent. I don't see that he is as well prepared this year as last and he is competing against a field that is much much better prepared.

Roglic still looks in control but Jumbo is spending too much time trying to control the race. They need to back it off and let Yates and co make the race. They're burning too many matches. Thats the only game that allows Bernal back into it. They need to let Ineos burn those matches.

I don't know about that hey. I think he was hesitant. trying to figure out if letting Ted go was better for himself to get the others to defend - "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" - and therefore use them rather than oppose them.

When Nairo went for it Optimus Primoz had no problem getting on the wheel and bridging the gap.

I think he's over thinking the race but then again playing the long strategic game is what wins tours.

I reckon Ted will get the time back by next weekend, He must just be smart. Tomorrow is a bad day for heroics so I suspect Alaphillipe will try something long range if he has the legs. The final climb with technical descent and the slight uphill run into Laruns will suit him. Could be an opportunity for Tadej.

Uran is a dark horse.....

If I didn't hear him being mentioned today I would not have known that he was actually in the race. Then looked at the current standing and saw he was actually in the running. Hy is soos die Skim!

Not a biased statement at all. I would say the same if the roles were reversed and Roglic went away or Nairo for example. You don’t let riders who are there for GC just ride away and let them go when they are a genuine threat to a overall.

Tomorrow or another day, the tables may turn. Like yesterday.

Formolo is not at the Tour for GC. He did what was set out for the day and did what was asked of him in terms of role to be played.

Thank you for the words but a very long way to go and anything can happen as we have seen in the last few days.

I dont know if I missed it or if you did post something about stage 7.. but what was it like being in the team car on stage 7 when Bora ripped it like that?

Hey Gen

I didn’t post as we got back to hotel near 10pm. It was a brutal day, it was so so fast and comforting you doing 168km in 3.5hrs do the math. Guys were shattered.

Tadej got a flat, got back to the group with the help of Jan and Marco but then as he got back, Mahoric crashed and he was caught behind that and then it was slapped into a tail - cross wind and no one was coming back.

We did know something was going to happen within the 1st 10km and were prepared but didn’t know not was at km 0!!

Hats off to Bora it was actually a real putty they didn’t finish it off, it was text book moering okes. I was impressed
