Primoz is obviously the main objective, but it would be interesting to know what kind of team discussions are had when/if he pipes up one day and says this is a good looking stage and I'd like to have a go.

He doesn't quiiite strike me as the chap who'll go full 100% sacrifice mode for the team. Just a feeling...

I disagree, he has shown already that he will ride himself into the ground for the team.

As the race will become more intense over the next 2 weeks the green jersey will be the last thing in the minds of team JV. Roglic has one hell of a fight on his hands and especially as some of his teammates are beginning to show signs of fatigue he is going to need nothing less but the full support of the Wout.

Sagan's green jersey is as safe as it can be.

Not the impression I have gotten at all and from what I have seen he is emptying himself for the team so far?

Fair.

Look I'd like to be wrong, as I indeed have seen on a couple stages - theres no doubting his work ethic. It takes a special kind of person though to know they're at the very top of their game (and the worlds game) and put it aside .. on the biggest stage .. for the team.

I just think he's a born winner and they're wired differently - selfish is probably the word. But again I'll happily be wrong about him, I like this kid, and if I can think higher of him, happy days.

I'm going to have to have a chat with Wouter a little later today. After winning stage 5 he clearly stated that he got his stage victory and it will be on Dometique duties for the remainder. So I subsequently moved someone else into his slot on the team. Then the little s%^& goes and sprints to victory two days later, insubordination!

I do think the team will let him go for a sprint if the bunch is small enough, but I doubt they will allow him to do intermediate sprints and big bunch gallops, he is too valuable to the GC aspirations to risk it there.

Stage 20 TT he will undoubtedly go for it with everything he has and the team can also let him give it a whack in Paris.

With two wins already, he has zero pressures to win anything else, but once you get in a winning streak it seems you should ride that wave as long as possible, you never know when you will hit that form again.

So he will be daft to not take any opportunities that come his way in this tour.

I think PR winning the tour would be a 'WIN' for the whole team.

He has already said that once he gets PR to the 3km kite he is given fair game in a small bunch sprint, but that the team is reluctant to let him go in a mass sprint for obvious safety reasons.

He has buried himself a few times in the last week and I expect he and Tony Martin will be on full cross wind duty Tuesday and Wednesday.

He has won what, 6 or 7 times this year already?

That is already a phenomenal season for a guy riding what is essentially his 2nd time round full 1st season as a pro.

I love how there is no special name for the activity or description or anything else...

Just:

Lunch Ride

Like anyone of us going for a ride around lunchtime...

I'm probably perhaps one of the few hubbers that can have a lunch ride given my profession. That said I don't rack up the kind of impressive numbers that Pogacar did with this particular ride. He really is quite incredible!

Especially if you view this year's results through the lens of what he had to overcome just to get to the startline. Nevermind finishing first as often as he has. One knew that WvA is a special talent but this has underlined just how good he actually can be.

Also the talent level of the rest of the younger generation is just ridiculous. Road cycling is having a bit of an golden age with these youngsters.

Now I am keen to know what you do. When I used to work shifts, half my rides were lunch rides, just A LOT shorter and sedate than these guys. I used to get home from work, go to sleep, wake up around lunch time, go ride and then go back to work. It actually sucked tbh.

Want to beat the rest day blues?

Tirreno' is starting today, as Gen stated.

It promises to be hard and exciting - The Shark of Messina, Matthieu in orange, Froome Dawg, Fuglsang, etc.

Meanwhile, Trentin sings 2 year deal with UAE-Emirates.

And fingers crossed as Covid19 testing for about 650 souls begin today.

Riders would've been tested twice in time for the start to tomorrow's pancake course.
