    • No, because most of the 150km of the trails are generally speaking, smooth as tar.

Quite right as usual M'sieu Buttox - unseemly to be thrashing around in ad hominem termper tantrums. Although I can't believe I was ever rude about your calves, unless it was when you were doing overgeared training and towing the greater red faced mamil at the time.

I seem to think load shedding started about the time you stopped laying down the watts at your kingdom? I'm sure Eishkom misses you as much as we do.

Mate, has your diet lowered your blood, sugar? I haven't seen vim and vigor like this since you commented that my calves were like the pistons of the Titanic, being inevitably disastrous and causing a sinking sensation. Just because some boys have an aversion to lycra they shouldn't make you so frustrated... Breathe, brother Mamil!

So on reflection and after emptying all my vim and vigour  at the Tour de PPA I'd like to proffer an apology to Thermophage for going off pop at him in this thread. Sometimes I see red and it's a character flaw.

People who used to play cricket with me would initially be surprised at how I could get locked into verbal jousting matches of varying degrees of intensity and as they got used to it would just shake their heads or encourage me if they wanted a good laugh. Sometimes it would work for me and I'd piss someone off enough that they'd make a mistake especially if I was bowling. But if batting it would invariably be me who made the mistake. While it's going on though I do get a sort of perverse pleasure out of giving free reign to my tongue. At the end of it though, assuming my target had a sense of humour we'd drink a beer and they'd laugh at me as my legs cramped up. At least I have one or 2 funny stories as a legacy of that time.

Maybe it's a question of a character trait that could be a wonderful servant but a terrible master.

Anyway - sorry Thermophage. I hope you get a gnarly trail at Hoogies.

Yo...like i said, if we weren't able to do this sort of thing on the interwebs then it wouldn't exist.

Don't stress, apology cool. Sorry if I overreacted to you. I'm just gatvol/frustrated of people seeing my name, and not reading the content of what was posted.

I think it should be clear that people are not trying to advocate for loads of gnar as a start anywhere, but more technical trails.

There is a marked distinction between technical and gnar. Think doing Spyklers hill as a descent for example...Steep in some sections, but corners are not bermed (large anyway) so like and brake control are what get you around with more speed. Simple things like that.

Anyway, I've suggested to others privately who are members that the topic is broached with the club committee member/s (well it already has before this discussion) to be discussed prior to or at the AGM.

They should be amicable to this so long as it's clear that NOBODY is trying to have a damn  DH line built  :P

Great thanks. Done and dusted then.

I have often thought that I'd love to do spykers in reverse. Maybe the Durbie dash might consider that

Pity, you should have done last year's Hoogies enduro they did most of it in reverse and took a brush cutter and made some rad new stuff in about 1hour.

Not that I enjoy the enduro races too much, but it is a good excuse to go out and have way too many laughs at Die Huishond

I haven't done the enduro because although I love the adrenaline of MTB I am a bit risk averse and the idea of being timed down a technical section and the pressure that my slowness might be holding up another rider behind me doesn't feel like fun.

Na, nobody gives a **** of you are slow on a descent. And if they do then they can bugger off.

Generally only the top guys will be racing anyway and they are significantly faster up and down so don't usually see them.

Also...before dropping in just tell the person behind ya may be slow. It's all good and half the fun.

Give Conties a go this year. It's a good (hurry up and wait) vibe...Kinda like how I felt at every singletrack section of W2W :P

Myles at least shows up from time to time. Which means he's lapping you.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Yeah, I just care about my own times, and the % diff between me and my mates. That's all. The vibe is super awesome at those races. No ego, no bullcrap, just good times and you vs the clock.
