    • No, because most of the 150km of the trails are generally speaking, smooth as tar.

There's a lot more "not bikepark" in the bikeparks than people think.

Fo sho, but often the more natural stuff is just harder to find. That's why we organised a trip to Molini for later this year (pre covid arriving...). Lett's see if that still happens :(

All they are able to build, no wonder most members (including myself when I lived there) can't ride a corner when there are no berms.

I've come to the conclusion they design trails so that they can have extra maintenance and then whine when they need maintenance and close trails unnecessarily long because of it.

Le sigh

I am assuming you saw the bit about Bennet Nel? You're aware he has the main hand in Jonkershoek, right? I am going with he knows more about trail building than most folks around here, with possibly the only exception being Hylton Tyrvey, so probably if he built a berm there it was not because he was under strict instructions from Patrick Roberts, but more likely that it was the best option?

Just my 2 cents.

Nope, totally missed it when I replied to the pic I was tagged in.

Totally.

Also, a more general comment and not aimed at the pic specifically. Anyway as I am sure I've told you before the problem is not with berms, it's with that berms are all that are built when there is a corner.

But we know how the defenders of the real love to read properly on BH.

Oh nice. I know a few okes that have been there. Holding thumbs for you then. Riding in Europe is amazing.

My other half and I were supposed to be going riding roadie bikes in the Pyrenees next month. Not gonna happen.

We're hoping to reschedule for December for the Canaries but work pressures will probably put an end to that.

The club sent out an email about 22 minutes ago saying the trails will be open from Monday (with the exception of Meerendal) - subject to some restrictions. Wooooohooooo! It's been two months right?! How do rocks work?

Email is below (if someone doesn't want it published here, let me know):

LEVEL 3 TRAIL UPDATE

Enjoy the last few days of riding on the tar, we are heading for the hills come Monday !!

The full trail network, with the EXCEPTION of Meerendal for now (hopefully we can give clarity over the next day or two), will be available subject to the following very strict conditions :

MEMBERS ONLY (no visitor / day permits allowed)

No vehicle parking at trail centres, with exception of POSSIBLY Bloemendal Wine Est (we'll try to advise by the weekend).

Respect social-distancing

Do not ride in large groups

Be very aware of good hygiene

Facial protection at all times (we suggest a "buff")

Please sanitize your hands prior and after rides, and even consider small hand sanitser bottle in your back pocket.

It goes without saying that we all have an important part to play in the battle against the Covid 19 Epidemic and the affects of lock-down. PLEASE work with us and abide by government's regulations, and also the conditions under which we are opening the trails.

We want to thank all the landowners for the privilege to get back out there and enjoy the simple, but o so rewarding pleasure of riding our bikes.

In closing, thank you for all the support we've received from so many, it's been a testing time for members, but also for the leadership of the club, and importantly our landowners as well.

STAY SAFE AND KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN

Nah, I have been holding out this year due to some financial responsibilities aside from cycling, but I am so itching to get some singletrack in my life I am so willing to make an exception this time round.

I don't need parking, I am about 14km away from Conters anyhoo.

Us hardcore okes from the Northern 'Burbs RIDE our bikes to the trails to "ride the berms", and then back home again. No need for parking.......  :whistling:
