droo Posted May 8, 2020 Share So a pair of underpants can't keep a fart in but you think it's going to protect you from the uber deadly hunt you out in your living room you're going to die if you set foot on the beach virus? Interesting. Also, science. (Worth a read, just cos it's Friday and farts will never not be funny.) Duane_Bosch Posted May 8, 2020 Share you may have said this in jest, but i believe they should be eliminated. How are building designers still putting in doors to toilets facilities that need to be physically touched ? And then they also generally put them swinging the wrong way so you cant just push the door open with your foot to get out.THIS!!!. The door must open outwards so i don't have to touch a poo handle on the way out! Captain Fastbastard Mayhem and Vetplant

daveno7 Posted May 8, 2020 Share Everybody remember that at the start of the Lockdown there were various murmerings about a 7 week lockdown? Well I think most of us can agree that Stage 4 is still a very hard lockdown, very similar to stage 5. So let's say we are still in the same lockdown. Well, the end of a 7 week Lockdown will be next week Thursday at 23h59. We started off with 3 weeks, which was quickly extended to 5. Then they gave us a bit of "feel good" adjustments for an additional 2 weeks which brings us to 7. Stage 3 in my mind does release some significant restrictions that does bring about more normality to our lives. So I expect another session with the President somewhere between upcoming Sunday and Tuesday evening, giving us the go-ahead to Stage 3 from the 15th onwards. With the caveat that districts/metros will be have to stepped up a level once serious outbreaks take place. Well I hope this is the case, as I am sure most of you are. the curve...the R value...etc...prisoners being released etc...you have to have a plan going forward and this needs to put forward and critiqued...but not by us..the model people seem to be very busy...its not an exact science...if i see or read another expert opinion...its very overwhelming...its a continual storm for plenty out there....whatever way...lets hope history will tell us its the right way... T-Bob Posted May 8, 2020 Share And in other news it also seems that the zombie apocalypse plague can be passed through intercourse. It is ruining all the fun. Darn grinch virus is worse than a mad old grandmother.... wash your hands, don't cough out loud, wash your food, clean your surfaces, don't play on bikes, don't go out late, you're not allowed to the pub, I hope you're not sleeping around. Dirt Tracker Posted May 8, 2020 Share An excerpt from a round table discussion on exercising, masks and the rest. Seems sensible but is never going to be happening in any city without opening more areas up. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Because breathing harder may release more virus into the air, Ben Levine, physician and director of the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, told NPR we should double our distance while exercising outside. Are you shedding a large flume of virus on your bike?Alex McDonald In short, yes. Taking deeper and harder breaths when exercising likely causes more viral shedding, especially if exercising outside where the wind can blow and dissipate the virus. Taking that into consideration, it is likely that due to increased viral shedding individuals that are exercising should probably be more than 6ft apart. Jessalyn Adam We don’t have an answer. The recommendation of staying at least 6ft apart under normal circumstances is actually based on what we know about the flu. While coronavirus behaves differently, we’re doing our best to make inferences. That said, experts are recommending that while running you stay at least 13ft away from others. To minimize the risk as much as you can, put as much space between yourself and others as possible while biking. Do you need to wear a mask if you’re on a mountain trail?Adam If you’re totally alone or just with people from your own household then that’s fine to go without. However, if there are other people on the trail, wear your mask as you approach and while passing and do your best to try to put as much space as you can between you and the other person. If the terrain doesn’t allow you to put a lot of distance between yourself and the other person, turn away while passing so you’re breathing in the opposite direction. If you’re just passing another person and particularly if you’re just walking and not breathing heavily then I think it’s pretty low-risk. Kelley Vargo The purpose of the mask is more to prevent you from spreading the virus as opposed to keeping you from getting it. If you are feeling sick or “off” you should forgo going on a public trail. Consider exercising at home until you’re feeling OK, because this isn’t just about protecting yourself from the virus – we also don’t want to infect other people. Does exercising with a mask provide performance benefits?Vargo Training with a mask, especially a homemade mask or an N95 mask will not replicate the effects of altitude training. If you really want to get an edge on your cardiovascular performance as it relates to altitude training, you should train at high altitude. Jessalynn Adam is a double board certified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation and primary care sports medicine Alex McDonald is a family physician and former pro triathlete Kelley Vargo is exercise and nutrition sciences faculty at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University and the founder of Sweat and Social Distance Vetplant
eddy Posted May 8, 2020 Share There's a few steel I-beams supporting the roof structure, so I take out my chain and lock. It's a mahoosive chain (went to Builders, chose the thickest chain they had at the time (and which they don't stock anymore) and told them to cut it while I watched. They battled, properly. So that chain wrapped in 2 layers of old innertube, with one of these boys as a lock Which is why all bikes weigh 20kg. 15kg bike + 5kg chain; 7kg bike + 13kg chain...
