I have been absolutely blown away with this.

The old Flight Simulator was probably the first game I ever played on my dad's PC way back in the mid 80's

 

 

Usually the full of extent of the gaming session was taking off and trying to crash into that big black building in the distance.

 

(No way my current PC would be able to run the new version...)

I wonder how it compares to the sims here at work? It is probably surprisingly close. I don't even have a pc at home(only a laptop) and I only got an old PS3 so luckily I won't be tempted. Used to love playing the older ones as a lightie.

I have been watching this for a while now, having flown many many many hours in FSX. But to me to get any real value I'd need a bumper PC and a VR setup with maybe thrustmaster setups for yoke, rudder pedals and throttles. I do not have that kind of cash at present, so to me its still a pipe-dream, but I agree that with the right setup this must be an amazing experience.

And then, even if I am so lucky to have the dosh, I'd have some real introspection in terms of spending it on what still amounts to a game, or rather go n+1...

Upgraded my computer earlier in the year in anticipation of this, then fell off my chair when the basic version started at R999. Haven't gathered up the courage to buy it just yet.

wait till you see how long it takes to download. Base edition is almost 100gigs.
