So who has seen this? Rapport Toer/Tour 2021 Paarl

have sent mail to them.

not exactly confidence inspiring when the official channel is a gmail address, and there is no facebook/social media link

Manage to get a national newspaper onboard as main sponsor, still use a gmail adress....

Reminds me so much of how the ToGH was organised, brilliant in many aspects, total amateurish in others - always almost getting it right.

But I am rooting for these okes to pull it off, a week long road cycle tour in the lead up to the CTCT adds a lot to our local cycling scene and should be an amazing experience for riders.

for sure .....

I did the 2015 Tour de Boland ..... I would grab an opportunity to do something similar again with both hands. :D

It takes a bit more effort to plan when it's not a 'cloverleaf' stage race, but the event itself, and doing the stages as an eternal "wannabee" was out of this world ....   ;)

Very disappointed that I missed out that year! Would have loved to do that route!

I've had queries via email and "contact us" go unanswered for over a week now.

Making me hesitant to drop my R4k...

I'm really keen to do this tour .... as a 50+ veteran (will need to buy a Cycling SA member/license again)

Has anyone pulled the trigger on this yet, can we(public) enter as novice riders as we did in TOGH for the 5 stage race? Or is the 5 day stage race only for elites/provincial/prof clubs ...

Any more info on the participation rules, the website is very vague?

The 50+ is not reserved for teams. You can enter as an individual.
CSA license is included with PPA membership, so that's your easiest route.
I'm taking the advice posted higher up and assuming that the age groups are highly unlikely to sell out and will enter in the new year.

I'm still not sure if i want to enter just yet

I'm not entirely sure i want to commit money until this is really happening. the lack of a covid cancellation guarantee is an issue. but i suppose fence sitting doesn't help them!

I love how the Facebook and Instagram links at the bottom of the website also just link to those social networks and not an actual page for the Tour.

I'm guessing this ain't looking good for the original date.

no updates since august!

I'm still really keen, and think that the format complies with CSA's goal of smaller local events. I will however wait for late Feb to fork over any cash, unless they seriously up their game...

“Smaller events are to be rescheduled to between March and May, subject to the transition to Level 2 or Level 1 Lockdown. Larger mass participation events must be rescheduled for the latter part of the year as part of a strong summer calendar from September 2021 to March 2022,”

Took it off of my schedule... don't want this to be my first race in so long. Might change my mind later but lets see.

One problem is that this event is always in the lead-up to the CTCT, which makes it worthwhile for people up country to travel down for the week to do both. If the CTCT is  postponed or cancelled I expect the same will happen with this event.

This, combined with the fact that their main goal of attracting international elites is dead in the water makes cancellation very likely.

Yeah

The local pros (upcountry or not) would of pitched either way but obviously big loss not having the international attraction.

Seems unlikely IMO
