I know Gummi has been eyeing a Parlee for many years.

With the bike collection he has, says something of Parlee.

From those early days of seeing a Parlee, only once had the privilege to see one in the flesh, it was their tri-bike model.

You are living the dream of bringing in your own bike line, congrats and all the best.

Please post picks of your Parlee, and enjoy your new bike.

I came very close to pulling the trigger last year on a Altum disc but then covid happened.

Maybe soon though.

LBS had these 2 beauts in over the weekend for clients.

Congrats, she looks fast and beautiful!

Do you perhaps have photo from the non drive side, would like to see the thru-axles, very clean on the drive side.

Here we go.

its clear Parlee when the extra mile to smooth out the profile of their through axles.

as a reference point the other bike is a 2020 Trek Madone with the Trek designed removable handle through axles - bulky by comparison!

and i cannot change the axles as Trek irritatingly uses a proprietary thread. so you have to use their through axles. learn't that the hard way.

a few other comparison pics between the Parlee and Trek showing off the finish quality on the Parlee

its a pity i do not have a pic of the Trek BB area to compare.

before anyone thinks i am bashing Trek, i am not.

its one of my favourite bikes!

i'm looking objectively at the attention to detail and overall quality of the finish.

I have worked on many bikes. My previous Cannondale's, Giant's and Ritte finishes all look much the same as the Trek.

the Parlee is just on another level

I'll do a full review after next weekend.

I want to get an objective feel for the bike without the "new bike" mentality getting in the way.

its definitely in the top 3 bikes i have ever ridden for ride quality and comfort.

i just want to verify my initial thoughts with a few more rides and compare it to the Madone

For the weight weenies.

i measured the built bike ex wheels.

Thats Force AXS groupset with bottle cages, garmin mount and saddle.

it came in 55grams heavier than my Madone

thats not bad!

consider the Madone is fully tricked out

300 grams savings in groupset (Sram Force vs Sram Red)

80grams savings on the saddle (251g for the Fizik vs 170g for the bontrager)

very slight savings on the bottle cages ( i guess 5 grams each at most)

that makes the Parlee RZ7 Frameset a good +-350 grams lighter than the Madone

So in theory you could build this framset up with Sram Red, Roval rapide wheels and get it pretty much to 7.2kgs (ex bottle cages and pedals)

that includes the quarq power meter on both bikes

not bad!

Pretty good.

Which Fizik and which bontrager?

Posted

by comparison, my Madone fully tricked out is 7.55kgs ex pedals and bottle cages

Why would you give a weight without pedals? And at least one bottle cage. Its not like they're something you can forego.

That is how all bike weights are traditionally done.

Its because everyone has their own pedal preference, bottle cage preference and garmin mount preference.

not everyone is willing to pay R7k for super lightweight pedals.

or R1k per bottle cage

also, the above figures i stated include the Quarq Powermeter

Frameset, is that including fork as well? 350gram difference between frames is close to 30-35%, thats crazy...

What was the framestweight of the Parlee including the fork?
