At the end of the day, it's your choice who to give kudos to, and when, or if any.

Mine is based on acknowledging someone for getting off the couch and doing something. If I'm curious about their ride, route or anything else, I'll engage with them... all 125 that I follow.

I share the same sentiment. Kudos for getting off the couch and out in the fresh air.

Some might need that extra bit of external validation to get them to continue bettering themselfs.

Easy to forget that a 10km run for a tri-athlete is less than a 2km walk for others .....

If a kudos is going to boost the newbie to try harder tomorrow, then why not.  For that matter, drop a note when you see them progressing ....

I have a friend that gives me a kudos when doing 10km with Maritz ..... but nothing when I do less than 40 or 50km on my own .... and that makes sense, for the journey we are on.

100%

I’m guessing the majority of the people I follow, or who follow me, are locals; call it an educated guess. We greet on rides, at races, or even the shops if they are closer to home.

It would be great if you could turn off the kudos function totally. Kudos are to easily dished out and end up being a pain in the ass.  If you want to congratulate or say something use the comments function, otherwise keep quite 👍

Howzit Swiss. Still the grumpy old man I see 😂. Its been a while. We should hook up for a Hemel & Aarde ride some time when you are loca again. I’ll even give you a kudos on Strava 👍

Was curious quantifying my last post:

77/108 followers are people I have physically met. Another 10 are Hubbers in other provinces. There are friends of friends on the list too, so maybe they know me given that race my club organisers.

68/125 that I am following are people I have physically met. A handful of pros, some out of towners (Hubbers) and some under the AN Other column.

You could just turn kudo notifications off...

The notifications are just 1 part of the problem. I think most people respond to kudos received by awarding them to those people, vicious circle syndrome….

Maybe it’s just best to ignore the kudos button and eventually you won’t receive any either.

I only use Strava to log my mileage on the bike. I used to care about the social side of the app but since they moved all the fun behind their paywall I've lost interest. The only benefit it still has is for me to link it to ProBikeGarage where I have all my components linked based on date and usage. This enables me to know the age and service intervals of all the parts on the bike.

For the rest I find Strava pretty useless.

It’s also great for tracking the distances you run with your running shoes…..

You'd only know that if you care about and deeply analyse your received kudo's.
I don't know why people give me kudo's, but I do know why I hand it out. Can't be a circle if you don't follow some silly rules. Just connect with like minded people and socialise the way you see fit. 🤷‍♂️

Lekker and you, long time no see.
Sounds nice, annual holiday planned for November, but we haven’t decided which continent to visit yet

You have a habit of collecting these grumpy old friends….GoG Grumpy old guy (he who does not visit here anymore) and GoM grumpy old man (he who keeps thinking about not visiting here)

🤙

Must be because you got off the couch

I can confirm that this doesn’t work.

Kudos are irrelevant to me and and I wish you could disable them completely, but alas you cannot.

Segment leaderboards, PRs and KOMs however, now we’re talking 😉

Don’t forget the local legends 😇

running? I don't know what you're talking about. I've never heard of this thing called running.

According to Google running is used as a method of escape when trying dodge a scary scenario like being chased by a troop of baboons, but I am not sure what other reasons exist for one to need to run.

I usually get on my bicycle when I feel the need to get out 😁
