Meintjies moved up from 39th to 26th on GC on the first mountain stage of the tour. It could have been even more if it wasn't for a mechanical. 

Fingers crossed for another top 10 come Paris.

What a ride by the veteran Geraint ‘Gilet’ Thomas. Impressive VAM by Louis ‘Mandjies’ too. Gotta feel for Kämna. What a festival on the, fast becoming, the most famous ski station in EuroLand. 

The maillot jaune celebrated a special occasion as his girlfriend lost her mum to cancer very recently: "I had my family at the top of the climb, it was a really special day, we opened a foundation for cancer research today, I'm wearing special shoes for it"
