I am unfortunately still sidelined from any strenuous activity after having Viral Meningitis in March and then recurring infections and some optic nerve damage and spinal chord inflammation which is taking a while to come right.

Another few months of rest and very mild exercise. My next appointment with the Physician is scheduled for Jan 10th, where I will hopefully get the all clear to start pushing the boat out again slowly.

Visit last week was seriously promising and I am recovering well, considering I almost died, went quite blind in my left eye and had some brain function issues.

I am happy to report my brain has healed, I can see, I can do mild runs and rides, play golf, surf etc as long as I don't put too much strain on my body. As soon as I do I get sick and frail and start all over again.

It sucks, but I'm enjoying the extra time playing music, with my son and on the golf course.

I will be back next year and this break from too much exercise has made me pretty hungry to get back to full fitness/gnar shredding.

Anyway, enough about me and my sorrowful woes, @MORNE  and @Meezo how were the trails?!

Thats a k@k excuse 😁

Just joking. Pretty serious stuff, frustrating process that recovery. I must say, life in the 40's is busy enough to make these events difficult, but there were so few this year that with me missing Witfontein, I just had to do this one, although I knew I was not really in shape to race the thing. Beers and war stories will be shared afterwards regardless! And talking k@k is half the fun!

Besides, we all want there to be more events, so lets support them when able.

@MORNE  & @Meezo did you get blown off your bikes? Wind is pumping here.

Firstly, thanks @Meezo for putting up with my incompetence, you rock bud. The best kind of riding partner.

He is also way more skilled than he makes out to be btw. We defo need more guys like him who are patient yet skilled enough to make it fun for numpties like me. All this smack talk about being the ultimate lord of gnar is irrelevant if you cant share that experience.

The trails and scenery… awesome. Jonkers is an amazing place.

Top of iron monkey and plumber = DEATH to me. I cant. I wont. I want my Mommy.

If you can do it with your eyes closed and think im k@k, good for you, im 100% better at other things than you are too.  That kind of trail just isn't enjoyable to me at this stage. My self preservation just wont let me go fast enough not to get hung up everywhere. And being a tall mofo that already sits a Km in the air, ja….NO.

red phoenix is awesome, i went down there while @Meezo did plumber. They were working on it ( phoenix) and it was wet in spots so had to pass a few workers on the way. Its a bit windy, that open bit running next to the drop off on the left was a bit iffy in the wind. Also windy enough that Meezo wasn't sending the big jumps anymore lol. I wouldnt know how it feels to get blown around in the air, I exist on the floor of the earth at this stage haha.

Armageddon also nice. Or the bit we did. Didnt get to the DH.42E0D1F8-7341-4873-B2FE-7A4217516484.jpeg.24effbd1ea553b0d2d35bb0524255d40.jpeg

There is what we hoped was controlled fire going on but with this wind it seemed a bit risky to play with fire going by past events.

also, good coffee.

ps: can someone confirm the stages fir the Lite?

Yeah, it hasn't been ideal, but it has made me miss the stuff I took for granted, so there is life after being a skinny frail invalid.

I'm super bleak to be missing this. It's the first WC enduro I won't be part of the timing team in a VERY long time.

Ya the Plumber is NOT FUN but it challenges you on a whole different level. Even Mylo was hurting during the POV video 😆. Its so janky!

To me the Enduro light sounds like an absolute EPIC day out. Red Phoenix and DH line both fast flowing trails with Zululand to finish it off. Save us some beers guys. 🍻

@MORNE  No worries, shot to you for the company and the coffee 🤙🏽🙌🏽

Ya wind was far from ideal, nearly died on the one of the jump on iron monkey then kept the wheels low elsewhere.

Agreed then with @Bos i think who said the wind will be worse than a little rain.

I'm only about 83kgs (with a 17kg bike) so ragdoll...

Amped for Sunday!!!

Nope It wasn't me. But the wind really funnels across that plain at RP and Plummer. I don't think we're going to get rain though. I'm all over worrying right now. I'm all set. The day must come. It's going to be good fun.

Going for a last little spin to check out all the gear and that's me. May do a lowers service for the arms sake. Will see if I have time. Probably won't.

Does anyone know where the waterpoint will be? It was at the bottom near the end of Armageddon previously. I guess that's why we go that way after DH.🍼

We will have a water table before you head up to Stage 4 (between Stage 3 and 4). This will be stocked up with Cadence nutrition drinks and water and some additional food and snacks. Please note this is to supplement your existing race nutrition strategy, so make sure to bring your own fuel! The water in the waterfalls in the valley is safe to drink so if you are desperate you can full up from them.

Got the mail.

Interesting start. Which of the first 3 stages to tackle first. I'm now super excited.

So aparently I'm a Master ey.. I thought I'd get to be a Vet but seems its strait to Ballie class if you're over 40 lol!

Maybe they are referring to skill levels 😁

I was thinking Phoenix, Plumber then DH.

I have however already started on Plumber before... So queue depending I'm happy with either...

I'll save the DH for last only because i think that's the least taxing on my arms, so then I'm not that dead for Iron Monkey

What time are you starting? I'm in 8am. Early start driving from Worcester!

Ya the Taxing on the arms part is very much part of my thinking.. I'm going to the top then will pic the line with the shorter que, then go to the top again to get the two tough climbs out the way, then its rally time that DH is so kiff..  Red P might be a bit snotty, usually is, but then again, there's not much braking or turning so who gives 😆
