What a boring dystopia we live in.
Is it a right of passage to complain about the new generation that we all must go through? Do I have to wait for Alphas to go to high school before I can start? Every generation has been doing it since the industrial revolution... How tiring.

mmm. If you think the earth is flat, then I support your right to think that, but it doesn't mean I agree. If you believe in a different science, then I support your right to do so.

There has to be an overlap, with acceptance, patience and empathy. It's not 'my way or the highway'

Rodney King said it best when he said 'can't we all just get along?'. from the looks of things, we cannot. And THAT'S why we're doomed. But it's been like that since we crawled out the oceans, so there's that

Thinking the earth is flat isn't science, its a feeling or belief despite facts. The idea des not even warrant consideration any longer except around the braai fire when trying to stir up an argument. If someone wants to belief it then fine, just don't teach it in school. There is a level of tolerance required but not too much or stupid ideas gain traction. This is quite a lot of overlap already. Most people exhibit this tolerance, also known as reasonable people. There are extremists both sides

oh sure, but remember, doctors claimed that that smoking was good for you and the Romans used to drink mercury to help digestion. point being that people believe what they want to, and for every bit of science that I believe, I can find a something that contradicts it.

Lighter reply ....

Over the last few years my riding distances increased, and my need to improve my recovery time became more pertinent.

And thus I read a LOT of the nutritien threads on the Hub ...

Reading up quickly turned into a marketing session where the one would contradict the other ....

I eventually had a session with a dietitian that specialise in nutrition for sports, and a sub-speciality about this impacts diabetics.

It was eye opening ......

"Science" is sadly used and abused for financial gain by way too many ....

You Don't Say? | Know Your Meme

Jokes aside (I believe this to be close to your heart Chris), when the human factor is thrown into the mix all bets are off, and when there's money....

I've seen you walk this journey here on the Hub and there are so many axes out there to be ground and most are based on personal belief/experience that might not align with yours/mine, which makes it tough to navigate.

Kudos for walking your straight path

Medicine is not exactly pure science.

well, with each new discovery, science changes. So, while it IS pure, it's only pure when we find sh!t out. and it's while sh!t's getting sorted, I need to keep an open mind about it all and be inquisitive and accepting. And by accepting, I mean accepting that others believe different things and that's not my business

I get that I may be coming across as an anti-vaxxing flat-earther. far from it. - my truth is my truth. it has nothing to do with anyone else, and what you believe has nothing to do with me, and news flash Trev, your truth may be wrong, so deal with it sunshine. (btw, Trev is me, but feel free to insert your own name)

I Would not call what the Romans did as "Medicine".... more alchemy and witch craft. However at the time they had good reason to follow the practices they did. there is a big difference between ethylmercury and methylmercury. the former does not accumulate in the body and is still used in preparation (as preservative) of vaccines (oh shock horror covid vaccine conspiracists were right!).

the rest well no...
