For Africa we will have Maincheese and Biniam Girmay (Confirmed). And both on the same team aswell.

Am I missing anyone else?

De Bod - EF Team not named yet, Not insure he will be in the TdF squad (Doubt it)

Gibbons - UAE Team not named yet, Not insure he will be in the TdF squad (Highly Doubt it)

Impey - Not in the ISN squad.

Personally… I think he should quit, his body just isn’t the same. Riders generally never comeback to the same form. We have many riders who have tried, the list is endless and I could throw in a whole host of names. Froome was good in his time and I’d prefer to remember him for that, than watch him miss training sessions when his got injures that flair up.(again). We all wish for better days, but sometimes you gotta ego check and look to the future.

It's not him. its the equipment again...

Being 1 of the directors of Factor Bikes, Why doesn't he just get them to make him his own rim brake bike then.

Then what's he going to blame?

He is absolutely correct about the overheating, disc rub being a negative. A friend of mine cooked his disc brakes on a decent not too long back. He ended up not being able to slow down efficiently.

A solution is to use bigger discs, but how is that gonna look on a road bike.

@Eddy Gordo let your friend check the disc width.

I had a nasty tumble in March due to a disc that overheated and I lost brakes on a steep decent .....

Turns out the disc was worn well below the 1,5mm thickness, as applicable to discs on MTB bikes.  With the new discs on I have done some serious downhills, and absolutely no issues.

The danger here is that you cant spot that fraction of a mm with your eye ....

OUCH !!!

Were the brakes bedded in properly ?  On my Giant I had lots of issues with the brakes during the first two months ... took it back 3 or 4 times .....  Eventually got tired of the useless service in Durbanville, and took it to an independant bike workshop and asked them to properly check out the brakes and get to the bottom of it .... Proper bleed, think they replaced the pads (or just cleaned it, cant remember now), then properly bedded in the brakes.  Next 3 000 km the brakes worked PERFECTLY.

Disc brakes do work nicely, but it needs to be set up properly.  (like most things)

The thing is, rim brakes failed/had issues too.

These guys push their bikes to the limits and hundreds of them are/have descended thousands and thousands of big mountain passes successfully. Sometimes unsuccessfully.

Speeds are getting faster, times are getting quicker and pretty much the whole pro peleton is riding disc brakes successfully.

I'll go back to it over and over, if they sucked, people who only care about winning wouldn't use them
