Lekker catch up with @Pikey and his P-Soop ... decided to ditch the cable ties, printed a lot of these and slowly replacing them. A tad neater and they don't cut you! Although Grumpy says I put the cable ties on wrong that's why 😜

It would appear that I'm finally getting over the dreaded lurgi ... sometimes the cure is worse than the illness comes to mind.

Hope you’re feeling you again. You missed a nice Winter Fast One, so really good conditions. Luckily they added a Spring FastOne, on 04-Sep.

I did my first race today, well, more of a fun ride.

60km GT-100 out in Meyerton.

It was great and I'm pretty happy with my Garmin time of 3h05 over 64k, including a small detour because we missed an arrow and had to go back to the trail.

I'm learning how to manage nutrition along the way and found the power of a banana! I had some mild cramps at 40km and that slowed me down quite a lot, but ultimately I had energy until I stopped eating because I thought the end was nearby and ended up an extra 4km over the 60km, but I made it and I'm really happy with progress from starting out cycling 8 months ago to doing a 64km ride in 3h.

I knew what was waiting along Bottelary ....

Leaving Stellenbosch it was almost 12 degrees C .... but that windchill cut DEEP.

Glad I kept on my double gloves, and all the thermal layers.

Vertically Challenged
just could not find a climbing rhythm.

Some structured, interval training can make it easier. Just adding some variety to your normal airport loop and you’ll see the difference on rides like this.

#happytohelp - ask in a PM if you’re interested

I was fortunate enough to race the Imana Wild Ride for the first time last week - what an experience, albeit a somewhat tough one!

Never done anything quite like it before! It really is something special, riding in such remote, but beautiful parts of the EC.
