I didn't know anything about it until it popped up as a 'surprise' on the Cross Cape Route.
Awesome climb. Absolutely loved it (and I am not a climber), because the descent was an ordeal (on the gravel bike) !

They graded the road very recently. I had my usual touring luggage so descending was slow but I would say it is in excellent shape for a dirt road. I climbed from the lodge and descended into Calitzdorp.

Almost into 'fat bike' territory but rather comfortable .... I'm sure @Pikey will be crying 'fat' tears into his Earl Grey tea this morning 😜

Some really good news on the medical front this week, so now the return to normal can really start... been riding most of the time, now can just ride without worrying all the time and can go further 😁

Thanks gents! Been a long road, tough to always listen to the doc's but has been well worth it ... definitely have a different outlook on riding now!

Got dropped from the pace partner group (D. Maria; 2.2W/Kg) while riding at 3.5W/Kg for the first 10 minutes. Eventually turned left, and rode the rest of the hour by myself. Was on the TT bike, so not sure if that makes a difference sucking wheel?

Yesterday’s harder session, outside, was much easier, read: more enjoyable, than today’s ride.

I tried 1.8 w/kg pacer on a MTB the other day and got dropped within 5 min, caught them on the next climb and got dropped again on the flat - finding the right balance with these pacer group takes a bit of practice - Like keeping it tight all the way up to 2.5X drops and you go off the front too far it kicks you back to 1.0X drops

Contrary to popular belief every ride does not need to be a half wheeling, puke inducing, flat out endurance session .... sometimes just a spin in the neighbourhood is also OK 😜

Meant the “block” of wood 🪵 😊

Knew that, that's why I laughed at your post 😉

Comment was more intended for some locals here in my 'hood ... the more than 1 is a race group
