Test driving the slicks and rigid fork on a beautiful day in Wilderness

in my opinion the Lauf fork I usually use is light years ahead in term of comfort

but the slicks and rigid fork are marginal gains so I can win the CTCT

Plus a suspension fork,of any kind, on a gravel bike is blasphemy 🤪

Bloody Philistines!

What is your gearing ratio on that beauty?

This corner helped my bike take me for X-rays and a visit to the orthopedic surgeon.

Thankfully no broken bones, but some very painful soft tissue damage nonetheless.

Eina. Where is this corner? It looks strangely familiar, and fun.

It's a section of the Paarl DH track, called Rail DH on Strava. Literally the first corner from the top.

I wasn't expecting the line choice and tried to cut in to jump it, front tire washed out on the loose, off-camber bit and spat me out over the jump.

🙈 Was just about to ask what happened, doesn't look particularly difficult, even for me 😁

Sensible changes - you don't want to leave that win up to chance. I think it's in the bag now though.

42 garbaruk chainring with 10/50

I usually use a 38 up front but to win the argus I’ve gone with the 42  - actually surprised how comfortably I’m climbing proper hills with the 42 but I know that when I tour I’m not strong enough when tired

that gearing has to lug 95kgs up hill and that number sadly excludes bike

it may be less comfy now without the Lauf but it's way more sexy too lol.

i ride 42/11-42 and it was perfect for me last year at ctct, i dont even think i used 42 before suikerbos. 50T you'll be going too slow to win anyway haha.

Isn't the 50 to add weight to give everyone else a (false) fighting chance? *Comic Sans*

yea without it there wouldn't be enough weight on the rear wheel and you'll just wheelspin with every pedal stroke😜
