Stanford mtb Classic on Saturday 

I'm still very much hurting

41°C at one point and with the sand and grass patches it was interesting...

Must say,the refreshment stations and marking was on point

Any talk at the event of going back to the two day stage format ?

 

THAT is unfinished business for me ....  was to be my first stage race ..... having paid, even being there on both days, but not being able to ride due to a knee injury .....

Out of curiosity, how does Odendaal St in Durbanville compare to these ?  (seeing that I managed to just make it up there on a standard bike probably means it is flat by comparison)

I've never ridden there. What's the name of the segment? (so I can find it).

Had the KOM up there until some bra named Waylon Woolcock during the 99er pushed me down into obscurity. I cried myself to sleep that evening.

Haven't ridden in Stanford before, but use to ride a lot in the Lemond and Flower Valley area near Gansbay. 

Some beautiful fynbos trails and awesome views to suffer on/with.🤙

That's short and steep... 300m @ 9.5%

The one you're asking about, in Durbanville, is 1Km @ 7.5%
Three times longer and only 2% steeper.

One of our MTB trails exits at the very top of Odendaal ....

 

Not one single pedal stroke and you easily get up to 70 even 75km/h ....  beter get the brake marker right !!

 

 

That longer steeper one must be a blast on the way down.

 

Slightly less fun on the way up ....

Curious to see that dreaded mast ascent at Contermanskloof... I detest that climb but it is an evil necessity if the plan is to drop into the Revised DH which leads into Black Rhino 1 and 2, which are my favourite trails in the entire network.

I don't ride at Spice Route much because of it.
