Regarding upper Black route, I was at Moggs (up towards the top of Hemel en Aarde) last weekend, and their comment was that when they went up to look, the trail "simply doesn't exist anymore".
Huge mud slides have covered stuff meters deep in places.

So sad.

These were some of thee nicest trails in the Western Cape.

Let's hope they come back stronger and better than before

QUESTION ....

Is Chappies open for cycling after the rain damage ?

What do the locals recommend for a short afternoon ride ....

1. Chappies ?

2. Misty cliffs ?

3. Houtbay to Sea point ?

4. Muizenberg towards Cape Point

40 to 50km return trip along one of these .... noting afternoon traffic ... safety ....

Thanks 👍

QUESTION ....

Is Chappies open for cycling after the rain damage ?

What do the locals recommend for a short afternoon ride ....

1. Chappies ? STILL CLOSED, WED EVENING…

2. Misty cliffs ? YES, LOW TRAFFIC, EXCELLENT…

3. Houtbay to Sea point ? NICE RIDE, BUSY IN LATE AFTERNOON IN OTHER DIRECTION (home-comers…)

4. Muizenberg towards Cape Point GOOD AFTER SIMONSTOWN, COULD BE BUSY MUIZIES TO S’TOWN…CALMER AFTER S’TOWN…

Best option? Park in Simonstown, then around Cape Point, around Scarborough/Mistys, over Slangkop, N-O-T past Ocean View onM82 but rather Kommetjie Main Road back past Masiphumelela, then over BLACK hill, to S’TOWN, 51km.

Else, maybe better still, park at BASE OF Black Hill, still through S’TOWN, same 51km route, but ending at base of Black hill, nice cool off down Black Hill before climbing back into car for trip home.

Pro Tip? If not needed back home, grab a bit to eat, and let traffic subside…😉

THANK YOU CHRIS 🙏

Much appreciated.

That circle route sounds perfect 👍👍

Do you possibly have a Garmin route file ?  I know most of the route ... but that last link back may just have some unknown  bits.

unsure HOW to share a Garmin route file with you - but will see what I can do. My own files start in Hout Bay, will see what I can dig up..

I think they opened Chappies again but closed it 2 days ago due to some rockfalls. Not sure if its reopened again yet.
