We (my club) are most likely starting in G, with a goal of 3:30. We’ll stop at a water point of two, and make up time inbetween. Nothing excessive, in terms of effort.

If you want to tag along, look for guys in lumo yellow/green kit.

Excellent, thank you, I have a bright blue jersey, and riding a blue Raliegh RC

If it makes you feel any better, the sleepless nights and anxiety of the ride is overflowing for me, so maybe I am panicking for you 🤔

On a side note, to the rest of you people who may be snooping around here, I am in batch G, and looking to finish in under 3:30, is there anybody else in the same/similar start batch with the same goal? Looking to maybe join some guys to make it a little more "doable"

Now you say it i remember waking at 2:30 sunday morning last year and just could not sleep.. watched the sopranos till it was time to get ready.. 🤣

I was on track be around the same goal as you until about a month and a half ago..

Hi everyone,

I recently replaced my tire on the road bike, I took it for a very short ride yesterday , I rode over a drainage usually not a big issue but I started hearing air coming out.

Tubeless did it's job I pumped it up a bit and continued.

Today I tried to pump it a bit more and sealant and air came out!

but the hole got sealed again, I can't seem to get it pumped over 4 bars.

I took it for a quick ride and it seens ok but I need the tire harder.

what is happening?

Did the people who installed my tire did a *** job ?

is it best to put in a tube for the race tomorrow?

I must say I have this bike for 5 years and I never had to deal with flats or anything tires related,.

Wonder what sealant they used ?

Many dont work at high pressures.

If you have your own tried and tested sealant .... pop off the tyre, clean, and redo the tubeless.

I normally avoid stuff like this just before an event .... but sounds like you have a problem that needs sorting out

So I thought let me check the front tire (it was also replaced) .

I put in the pump, and sealant squirted all over the floor.....did they put too much sealant?

It was on 5 bars....

This is why i learn stuff myself..

every mechanic is different, some are sealant nuts and others are sealant stingy..

They just dont do stuff the same, or the way I like it done.. so its up to me.. and now every clean is like a minor service🤣🤣

Was a genuine lekker day out. Quite pleased to see no accidents on the route (not that there weren't any, but that is seemed that people were a little more responsible). Rode to the start and back home, started in G, with us stopping at water points 4, 5 and 6 to regroup with club group.

FWIW, if time matters, then a 2h81 is a sub-3, hey?

Flippen hot, even with a new white lid, but overall very good conditions. Had fun, lots of it.
Hope that this race remains profitable to be held each year with road closure.

Until 2025.

Out off all my 18 rides this was the most enjoyable, had so much fun starting in the 'alphabet soup' and just chilling. No stress, no pressure

Spending time with my brother and son on the road, priceless

Then to the picture .... so as we start riding I realise that my rear derailleur is not working, Di2 so you can't just eye it and have a look. The front is working though so seemed specific to that

Anyway it's stuck in 8th gear, not ideal clearly. Decide to check it out at the first water point .... there was a point in the pens there that someone bumped into my bike then moved along, sadly in that the rear derailleur 'wire' was broken

Anyway what can you do, decided to carry on and if I had to walk at some points so be it! Now not to brag but you get mechanics and you get mechanics ... as we're riding my son says hey Dad we can jump start the derailleur to an easier gear, I think like really? My brother is riding my other bike which is also Di2, same version etc.

OK so we put the 2 dérailleurs right next to each other plug his cable in and shift mine up, worked a charm!

Put it in 4th and just used the front shifter all the way, luckily we were out for a fun day and our day was made!

Hope you had a good ride in whatever group you started in.
We went out quite quickly, with less than a 1/3 of the start group making it to Kyalami. 😊

Very lekker day out on the bike. Started in C batch. I've never been in such a big bunch on a ride before. In was stressful AF and I had to keep my wits about me. After Kyalami it opened up and was a lot more enjoyable. Managed to finish in one piece and improve my time from last year, so I'm happy
