I like the glitches and wrong naming the riders.,. adds to the entertainment and gives you something to b@tch about here and to whoever you're watching with. Its all part of the package,

My favourite is "Ciovita Orange/Yellow Jersey" which has to always be said together. At least its not the Absa Cape Epic presented by XXXXX and XXXXX or did I miss that?

How are those Spesh riders coping with thet enduro style HTA. The HTA I predicted about ten years ago for marathon and XC bikes but was always shot down by @DieselnDust  🙂

It still looks 💩

As someone who's been part of that media crew for a few years (okay I only rode the motorbike with the cameraman on the back 😄), I can promise you that they won't be happy with that feed today and will be doing everything in their power to improve it for tomorrow. BigShot media take what they do very seriously and no one is harder on them than themselves. That media caravan is not the place you want to be during a stage if you can't handle stress 😄

If you don't like the commentary on the commentary, don't read the thread. If you don't like the free live comments on bikehub (douchebags and all), don't open it.

This is not sound financial advice, do whatever you want.

More seriously, it seems like the team don't have access to great live info and that seems to be the cause of many of the "issues".

I do think ACE are very keen on growing the live coverage, that is what would make the event actually financially lucrative. It's very difficult, but they have been leading inoovaters in this field (the ebike livefeed for one was a spinoff company that pushed to get it, but it gets stuck with cell coverage sometimes). The terrain and broken racing make it incredibly hard to put on a good live product. Go watch any trailrunning live stream and compare..

or here is the feed from the World Marathon champs last year to compare

Exactly, Mark is very proud of what he’s achieved in bringing this event to us. They will fix the issues.

I’ve seen him do a Toto with his headphones when a camera bikes battery went on the blink a few years back (think it was 2021)

To be clear, I don't have any issue with the feed - it's pretty much the only live mtb race I watch even though I think mtb is much cooler than road.

It must be crazy hard to get anything done in the conditions they need to work in, and things like the helicopter and ebike shots, rider interviews and lack of Cecil Nurse ads are great.

At the same time, there is no such thing as free content, except if you value your time and attention at zero. By choosing to watch this rather than a new Zero Friction Cycling or Veritasium video, there are some (very small) financial impacts to the content creator. My attention is the product that is being sold and competed for.

Ya ya ya ok ok be grateful we get anything at all I get it. Technical glitches aside the most informative person is Sabine and then Baart doing the inserts. It’s stage 1 so maybe the commentary will improve but I at least expect the commentators to know who the riders are and be able to speak about them informatively.

Seems to be correct

speed company 6:48 back already. They be come back from here before but it doesn’t look the same as the last two years. Baum looked very uncomfortable yesterday and today. Back issues again?

I saw one of them riding big gears on a flat section yesterday ....sad to say their prologue and today's result says something is wrong. I'm a big fan of them and Matt Beers and Nino....I'm covering all my bases 😎

On the comnentary, Gerald says Speed Company off the front, meanwhile we could all see them unhitched on the climb. Yesterday Gerald couldn't name quite a few riders - he seemed under prepared. I prefer American commentaries, they're way more professional. My fav is still Bart ...

Now to do some work!

Hope they get it right. I've never been a fan of the commentary but the visual feed even from the finish has been bad. Like an earlier post said, it may be the undersea data cable break?

I’m not convinced an undersea data cable is responsible for equipment not connecting on our side unless that connection first goes to Europe before bouncing back here. How does the data centre connections work between dimension data, the media crew and the broadcasters? I’d think that the exported data would be affected not the internal SA networks?
