I wonder if they’ll accept new entries now.

only reason I never entered was Ramadan. But given that it got postponed, hopefully I’ll get to ride this.

First wait for the damage report after the next couple of days rain & wind. I would imagine lots of trees were uprooted already from all the images & videos doing the rounds on Social media.

It’s not allowing me to enter online. Says online entries closed.

Think I’ll wait till Wednesday before I decide. See if there’s any update on the trail conditions.

Not sure why they changed their mind, but I'm positive there would be enough time to clear the route before next Sunday

It’s postponed to the 21st now. Online entries will reopen this week. Just check the site regularly. The okes will only start damage assessment tomorrow when the weather lifts

  • 2 weeks later...

Never ridden at Lourensford, how is this course (full one)? Technical? The one trail used in this years epic prologue looked pretty technical (considering video mellows everything out). Guessing it’s quite a fast one with most of the climbing done in the first half of the race. Weather looks great for Sunday👌🤞

Its not too technical if you are fine with switchbacks and flowy descents.

Hi, I am new to racing in the Western Cape.  Does anyone know what number board / time system we need to use for the race?

Some random thoughts

R700 is pricey for a funride, no matter how well its justified.

Event still attracted close to 400 riders so clearly enough people feels its value for money

The organising, the venue & the route were excellent.

Starting with 20km climbing not fun but by the time you get to the singletrack the field is properly spread out, was lekker hitting the singletrack without traffic.

Had lots of fun, finished the ride with a big smile on my face.

Would love to do it again next year.

Agreed on the price.

I thought the climbing at the start was good to spread the field out ahead of all the single track. It wasn't that steep and mostly on good surfaces so it wasn't too bad.

The marking could have been better. Many, many high-speed sections with an arrow all of a sudden right on the corner indicating a hairpin corner. Overshot many corners this way.

The self-seeding was a double-edged sword. Way too many e-bikers who can't ride single track ended up at the sharp end of the race and were blockers in the single track. I ended up with a broken Garmin when one crashed in front of me.

Awesome day or riding though. The weather couldn't have been better and the trails were in great condition!

The climb was actually great. It was long but wasn’t steep at all and it spread the field out completely before the singletrack. Honestly was so awesome to ride singletrack without holding up someone or getting held up by someone. And I also liked the fact that all the singletrack was broken up nicely so if you did have someone behind you, there was more than enough chances to pull over and let them pass.
