Intermediate cyclist - Orbea Oiz H30

Howzit everyone,

I am overwhelmed with all the information out there and can really use some advice.

I think it's fair to say that I am an intermediate rider and I am looking for an upgrade. I recently returned to SA and I am now in the market for a new set of wheels.

I grew really fond of the Orbea brand whilst living in Europe and I now have my eyes on a beaut at Cyclelab.

I usually ride between 40-60km and I mainly cycle on gravel/jeep/farm roads but wish to spend some time on single tracks/trial as well. I am also planning to really push the boat out next year and participate in a few events Karoo to Coast vibes.

So I have my eye on the Orbea Oiz H30 (mainly because I like the brand to be honest), but I now wonder whether this is above my needs given the price tag ? I am open to any advice or reviews.

Howzit.. welcome.. 

i say, if you like Orbea and can afford it, who are we to say otherwise.. it really sounds like you like Orbea, and quite honestly i think they are awesome bikes..

Stick to what makes you happy and youll have plenty amazing miles.👍🏻

I do like them, but my problem is also that I don't know what I can find out there that's comparable? The amount of information out there is really overwhelming for a novice like myself.

I've been riding an Orbea Rise for over 2 years (13 000km) and can definitely recommend the brand. Support is pretty good in SA, with lifetime warranty.

I'd look at a Trek Top Fuel or Specialized Epic Evo over the Orbea. For me being tied to one retailer for support is not a great position to be in. I'm in the Trek camp and have had great support from them for my Top Fuel for the last 4 years of ownership

I bought myself an Orbea H30 around 2 years ago and I've been very happy with the bike. I raced it in the WC Marathon champs series last year and it never disappointed. To date I've had to replace nothing besides tires.
I looked at a few bikes at the time but the lifetime warranty on the frame won me over.
I used to race an Orbea dual in my younger years and cracked that frame and had zero issues from Orbea with a full frame replacement. That gives me peace of mind 👍

Nothing wrong with the Orbea, they're great bikes and the support is on par with just about anything else out there.
If it makes your heart sing, then that's the one.

It’s a great bike. Stiff bb area, contemporary thinking re the anti squat , geometry and overall suspension design.

the carbon layup also follows contemporary trends.

The tune your heart sings is the happiest tune.. 

my bike is better than anyone elses simply because of how it makes me feel when i look at it, ride it, and maintain it.. 

its an alloy frame, its actually a gravel bike that i ride road on, its a mish mash of components and accessories.. yet, i love every thing about it..

Just beware of 'analyses paralysis' .... Make sure the bike fits and YOU like it, get it and go ride

Unless it's a ... Let me stop there. There are some bikes I reckon friends don't let friends ride but don't mind me 😎

10/10 would recommend the Orbea.

I ride an Orca and its amazing. After-sales is also great from Orbea.

Their warranty is also world wide and not region locked like some other brands, you would just need to go to an Orbea retailer.

Whatever you do, don't buy this Scott, all of the aluminum versions weigh a ton, over 17KG. Because of that hidden shock nonsense.
