morning.

anyone know what the current status is with Jonaskop. a friend said he heard the road has been close and no entry allowed.
We've done it every december for a few years so want to keep the tradition going.
Used to have the farmers phone number but I can't find it now.

that would be sad. I dont anything but from strava I can see the last time folks rode up there was mid October.

The land is private. Previously, the owners were content with a few cyclists riding there with their permission, but an influx of unauthorised cyclists led to a blanket closure of the road to all cyclists.

Bike Hub removed the article about the route after the landowners informed us of this.

That's when I was last there too - on the assumption that there was permission.

This post is dated December 2024. Riding when there is explicit withdrawal of permission though is a no go for me - I would love to talk to the landowner and see if he is willing to allow a trip.

Would Nick not been able to help - since the landowners were in contact with him...

I'm really gutted about this news, I had one Epic trip planned which included both Jonaskop & Galgberg, McGregor in one sitting. First attempt resulted in a DNF, I then made some notes from my learnings to apply on my 2nd attempt which will now never happen unless the ban is lifted.

Is very much out of bounds, with no chance of changing.

I know someone who knows someone to do with the annual local challenge and that is done for good. (As of Oct 24).

Few reasons, but it's private land (and Sentech) and people abused this.

Don't go.
