I fail to see what my spending on my recreation has got to do with anyone. That survey seems way too invasive.

Exactly.  I'm not filling that in.

Before filling in a SANParks survey about my spending, how about them telling US exactly what they have done with the money we paid over the last few decades to ride in Tokai! I KNOW that nothing went back to improving the cycling or even the conservation of that part of the mountain! But yes, let us sent THEM a questionnaire! I'm grumpy, it's Monday!

That and the increasing cost is what I complained in the comments section (and you can leave financial questions blank btw)...

Sorry guys, first time riding in CT. Planning on riding the Tokai trails tomorrow.

Firstly, is it open every day? Secondly can I purchase a pass at the entrance?

Thanks in advance.

Yes there’s a hut on the right about 500m from the manor house that you can pay at, as you ride towards the reserve from the circle from Orpen Road/Tokai main road (near gear change and bootleggers)

Hi yes the trails are open 7 days a week...Parking and  sanparks daily bike riding permit payment can be done at the Tokai picnic area ..you'll see it on the right hand side of road heading up from the Tokai circle.

daily entrance fee is over R100

group buy annual permit at Uitsig Bike park under R500 ..so if you plan to ride all week 😊

Enjoy the trails.

Trails are Build and maintained by TokaiMTB Group..no cash assistance from SANPARKS...revenue for trail building and maintenance collected by donations, membership and trail sponsors.

All SANParks tariffs go up at the end of this month, I see:
Day MTB permit from R115 to R122, Activity card from R775 to R822.

Group discount will work out at R476.25 from next month, but well worth paying the small admin fee to Uitsig Bikepark to do it all for you, so marginally over R500.

And DH1 is finally open again.

All the usual caveats - there have been one or two small changes and a new feature added and there are some dusty spots but should be fine when ridden in properly.

The exit has been changed to line up better with the DH2 entry, the berm before the big drop has been moved to allow for better approach to the drop (B lines around there have been fixed and the landing has been changed a little - check first). There is a new jump and line into the big berm and all the landings through the central section of the trail have been fixed.

The Level 5 access Through to Silvermine from the top of the Broken road trail remains closed .It has been examined by SANPARK appointed engineers and unfortunately it's not just a quick fix push the debris off the road solution.

Rode up the spruced-up Fairy Garden BMX track (just kidding, it's great 😆) yesterday morning. Good work, thanks guys!

Special appreciation for fixing that sharp rock that has for years wanted to eat the left of your rear wheel as you sneak past it coming out of that left-hander. IYKYK.
