Seriously? What’s the reason for that, surely the colnago TT is good for more than 1 race, even with pogi’s power…..

News Flash: John is no longer at UAE 😄

Lol thanks, I was mixing my Johns and jeroens up

but the question remains, why a new Spaz Shiv TT bike for REMCO @ Bora Hansgrohe everytime?

Yes you have a new bike for every race and stage in a Tour. If there parts that are a small % questionable they replaced - this is just the level it is.
Same as a MotoGP bike for example- new bike per race.

Sorry, it’s friday and i’m going to call out your BS😅.

This bit is factually incorrect.

A rebuilt MotoGP bike yes, but not a full freshly, no NIB bike per race.

Teams are allowed 2 bikes per rider for a race, and fly around about 2 bikes worth of spares just in case they need it. Engines are homologated and they are limited to only 7 a year per rider.

Not even in formula 1. It’s not the late 90s early 2000s anymore. The days of disposable race equipment has passed. At 22 races per year for MotoGP, that would mean 44 new bikes for a standard team of two riders, we aren't even talking about customer bikes/teams. Even if they were allowed to they probably wouldn't. This is just not financially viable even for the top teams.

Although it’s a prototype series, MotoGp is relatively ‘poor’…or ‘under utilised’ as their new  f1 overlords like to say. Not nearly the amount of money you find in F1 or even WEC. Suzuki sank, KTM busy sinking. Yamaha prolly next. No NIB bike per race.

Thanks for the reply

That explains why there are sometimes technical issues. Just about every stage you see someone with a technical problem (not including punctures). I’ve always wondered why considering the level of professionalism of the mechanics and amount of attention each bike gets.
When it comes to bicycles I’m a believer in the if it’s working don’t touch it school of thought.

At $400 a frame and $400 for groupset and $200 for wheel set the pro teams can afford to give bikes away at a GT.

here it’s arme santam

I've heard a rumour that DStv isn't showing the Giro d'italia...can anyone confirm? Is so, what are the options - without delving into VPN required streams...

To keep on topic, I know Alan Hatherly is riding, any other Saffas on the start line?

No other Saffa’s lining up. As for DSTV you’d have to wait until Friday 2pm to know whether or not they would be broadcasting.
