80% of the route is on public roads go forth and enjoy yourself on the day. If you take a Wild Boar Trails day permit I'm almost sure you can get it up to 90% of the races route & just cutting out the small section through the farm the kicks you out at the bottom of Bainskloof Pass, it's very sandy anyway.

Gravel Monster cancellation email received. Refunds promised... 🤷‍♂️

Guess who is the co-owner of "Top Tickets" that handled the online entries for Gravel Monster...

At least with Giro del Mar the entries were handled by Entryninja and refunds on cancellation were instant.

Really hope you guys get your money back

I'd imagine that tour du cap is also headed to the trash heap of cycling history - Not holding my breath for a refund on either one.  Oh and not to mention the boland 100 miler.

Hmmm --- time to reformulate my training peaks training plan -

Did a quick check on cipc, there is no "Top tickets" or "Cool Concerts", so maybe there really is only one company (de villiers cycling) which was registered in 2011. Would explain why they all go through here - https://www.toptickets.co.za/

Your entry fees, and these events are at risk. If the cycling is a sustainable profitable business then he should spin them out, asap.

According to who? From what I could see on bizportal, there is only one company. common business practice to split out your various businesses so one lemon doesn't take them all down together.

Went to the Top Tickets website and it was very obvious they only sell tickets for De Villiers races & concerts.

Then googled Top Tickets contact details and got this https://b2bhint.com/en/company/za/top-tickets--K2025120295

Don't know if you saw the articles in Rapport this weekend about how this guy went about the concerts he was organising, but honestly I would not be confident that people who paid entry fees to any of his events will get money back. Would be very happy to be wrong on this.

Fair enough, this is actually a separate company to the cycling one. Registered in feb this year. I'm going to guess it was built/licensed by this company https://www.kaarkies.co.za/ as they look identical. It's registered to an address in 3 Anchor bay, (but that may still be the previous owner).

there are actually two cycling companies, both registered in 2011.

one with an address in val de vie, the other across the road in another estate

This is all public information from the company register (cipc) database.

Gives me the impression that maybe the concert company could go bust and the cycling events keep going unhindered.

At the moment you can't buy entries for either the Boland 100 Miler or the Tour du Cap on the TopTickets website. Also the facebook pages for both events seems to be deleted. So nothing official but not looking good for his other cycling events....

As an aside if Boland 100 Miler does go ahead he would need to address the problem that Du Toitskloof pass is closed in October for roadworks.

Yes you can claim if you paid via cc and your card protection plan covers the situation

hopefully they issue a notification of insolvency as this will be required to claim

So bleak this - That's Tour du cap, boland 100 miler and the gravel monster - I entered them all. Think it's about 4 or 5k all in but the bigger loss is my springtime into fun ride world  champs season  which now needs substantial revision

Feel the same here ... got the wind knocked out of the sails! Maybe I'll join a bowling league rather.
