It was never clear to me how events for the artist in question were associated with devilliers cycling. it doesn't look good for my domestique role for @peetwindhoekfor the tour due cap 2026

i think you can get all the info quicker by this online handbag fight. It's a facebook post, but listed as a press release:

Did a quick check on cipc, there is no "Top tickets" or "Cool Concerts", so maybe there really is only one company (de villiers cycling) which was registered in 2011. Would explain why they all go through here - https://www.toptickets.co.za/

Your entry fees, and these events are at risk. If the cycling is a sustainable profitable business then he should spin them out, asap.

I'm a bit scared to go down this rabbithole, but this is all to do with Steve Hofmeyr?

How is that knobjockey not grifting his white ass off into millions currently? He is basically an Afrikaans Donald Trump. As the posterboy for white victimhood, how did he miss this massive opportunity?

seems my news24 account doesn't get me netwerk24 access, but i did find this quickly

image.png.d063a3e9148f894ad4b08d2eab79581c.png

so my takeaway here

De villiers has a music promotions business/sidehustle. And with a postponed concert from march he is now trying a V2.0?

You can still buy tickets here - https://www.toptickets.co.za/event-details/steve-hofmeyr-ikoon-konsert-kaap-dhl-stadion

(they have a gmail address for the concert)

The cycling thing might be a totally separate vehicle, so this could go belly up and Tour du Cap et al are fine (which is even more DJT immoral behaviour)

As I have it De Villiers organised a concert in March headlined by Steve Hofmeyer that was marketed terribly and then got postponed to October because of lack of ticket sales. However the new date is very close to a similar concert organised by the Coleske brothers (feat Steve Hofmeyer) so the new date is a stuff up as well (and hence the commentary from the Coleskes) + he is owning a lot of people money now with the failed concert.

I have some time for the guy because he is one of the few people attempting to organise proper road races in the country (like the Tour du Cap) but the vibe i have picked from his events in the past (other than him being prolific email spammer) is that he is also a cowboy that takes short-cuts and also not someone that is 100% honest in his dealings with clients, at some point these things catch up with you. Although he seems to be also the type of character who will always land on his feet while others are left to pay for the mess.

I've always thought the early bird entries being done 12 months ahead of an event were most likely done in order to pay creditors for the event that was just concluded and that they were just hoping the sales for the next year would make up for that and also cover the next event...

I remember the name Wynand de Villiers from when ASG started taking over events in Gauteng from clubs. Started with Satellite classic then moved to Edenvale etc. The Tour de Boland organised by Carinus was also taken over and became something else. Not sure riders or clubs benefitted from this.

Baby and bathwater and all that. I'm not entered nor affiliated to this org. But I didn't get the sense that any of the cycling events are under threat (yet)?

When a company gets liquidated, the baby does figuratively get thrown out with the bathwater.

(also no affiliated).

It would be sad if this is the case, but happy to be reminded that this all started when the people of Cape town voted with their wallets that SteveH is a complete #%#%$#%$#%. Well done CapeTown.

Stupid moment from me, thought it was 2 distinct entities, but see it is the same company.

Ikoon concert tickets still selling. Most of the cycling stuff also...

I'm running on the assumption Boland Gravel Monster is dead, but lets see if Mr Email Spam can at least give us the courtesy of an update email... Not holding my breath though.

i'm amazed to see this is running off a bogstandard gmail account. I have no probs with gmail the system, but paying R200 a month and it doesn't look like you just started yesterday.

i remember this going down with the events in Gauteng re ASG.  from my memory the Td Boland was replaced by T of Good Hope under ASG on the calendar ie the events took place at the same time and in the same region / area. very unethical. The td Boland still continues but as a social event (i think). the T Good Hope became the Tour d Cap due to the ASG entity that ran the TGH being 'wound up' and reinvented itself in another form. i always scratch my head when i see events opening entries for the next years as soon as the current event finishes. my head says cash flow constraints but my heart says 'oh that's nice'.

Fully agree.

Those were the days when events were still organised by clubs and was very affordable. Then the race organiser came along and took over events. riders and clubs did benefit from well organised events but clubs suffered and this probably also led to the demise of the club membership.

Yes 'n remember the whole Tour de Boland / Tour du Cap saga becoming very messy. But to be fair the original Tour de Boland organisers also didn't cover themselves in glory, their attempt at organising a stage race was a shambles. The Tour du Cap/Tour of Good Hope has been going for almost 10 years now? So there is some organising ability to be found besides all the drama...

The next chapter in the handbag fight is now playing.

See the new comments in the post to the Rapport arricles today and DeVilliers' reponse on FB. Shenanigans at a Theuns Jordaan tribute show in Amsterdam too.

Moaning about the artists fees after the fact? Surely one gets all the quotes required before you put on a show to determine feasibility?

What is going to happen with the Gravel Monster in 2 weeks? I see the Fb page is dead, but Entry Ninja is still taking entries on behalf of a now liquidated DVNC.
