To all of us who had entries to events that got cancelled, it obviously sucks, but I find the idea that many seem to have laughable that they think he actually went out to screw you over pretty laughable.

I am certain he is a hell of a lot worse or financially for all of this than you and I who each maybe lost a few R1k in entry fees or concert tickets.

Ja exactly - this wasn't a con artist story - this was just bad business with disparate enterprises (cycling, musc, events) housed in one business.

People may feel screwed over but he definitely isn't laughing all the way to the bank with our money.

Yes - I had tour de cap, boland gravel monster and tour de boland entries - having done all of them a good few times each before.

This is kind of the bit I don't understand.

Firstly, when you have THREE different businesses, just split them out.

Secondly, I'm guessing the cycling stuff was profitable, but the entry fees for future events have now been tied up in the konsert saga mess. Surely there could have been a way to ringfence/transfer this when the manure started hitting the fan, or is the money all gone already?

Thirdly, on the premise that the cycling stuff is well presented and healthy, then expect a relaunch under a different entity and some serious backlash as people have now been burned.

He screwed himself worst of all, but definitely screwed most of us while trying to unscrew himself from the mess he was creating

Precisely put - when in a spot like I imagine he was in the month leading up to the liquidation he probably got into the same space a gambler gets into when he's down and reasons that if just empties the access bond he can dig his way out.

The youtube channel suggests that he's still in that mindset which is unfortunate.

He robbed Peter (you) to pay Paul.

That's not honest business practice. He should've stopped taking cash in advance for events that would never come into fruition. Like he said himself: 20years in the industry. That gives one foresight. He knew exactly what he was doing.

As someone who has actually lived through a liquidation of a business I spent years of my life building, I honestly hope none of you that have such a hard stance on this ever need to go through the same thing.

You lost a few grand (at most) on some event entries. He has lost everything. And I don’t get the impression from any of this story that this is one of those cases where he hid a bunch of assets and is actually living it large on all the money he hid away from the liquidators.

I get people have a right to be annoyed, but to try make out as if he is some kind of monster is a stretch.

Ag no man ... since my life I haven't had to Google so many words at once 🤨

I wore my devillieres cycling boland gravel monster cap from a few years back in honour of this thread today.

I paid enough for it so might as well wear it
