Sadly to proceed with criminal charges in cases like these (especially involving minors), will only open sore wounds ago, letting the victims relive trauma. It has nothing to do with a strong case. The state has a legal duty here to investigate and prosecute if the allegations are valid. The state did not have to wait, should have been done then in 2023 if there were grounds to.

Bester and his legal team appealed the decision of the 2023 CSA disciplinary inquiry. SASCOC then appointed an independent appeal panel, delivering their ruling in 2024.
