With all this talk of blockades' date=' barricades, gun shots, reckless driving, reckless riding, cattle prods, mass action, burning tyres, necklacing bla bla yadda yadda.... As a cyclist of colour I want to be sure I am safe from angry cradle residents, crazed bakkie driving farmers, road hogging marauding mobs of cyclists and the odd fascist loving racist looking to exploit the chaos, I have decided to go ride in the cradle in full riot gear tomorrow... LOL

OK, from a "fool around" cyclist perspective (read fat and overweight and riding too little!) I find it a sad day when anyone tells me in this country that I am not welcome on a PUBLIC road!  And if I dare ride there I will be putting my own life in danger.

Secondly, from a bikers point of view, why oh why does Mr Plez, the Cradle DING and Mr X not try this type of SHYTE with patch wearing bikers?  Why oh why do they try to take it out on cyclists.  Guys and gals, easy, because you go and drink coffee.  If they try that type of crap with a patch wearing biker they'll become a helmet ornament because the person will have a helmet stuck up their ass!!!!!  Violence doesn't solve everything, but, as I was told in school, a hiding or two always helps.

OK, SP, so when we going riding.  Got the knee sliders on. Only left on scraped as yet....

ewep, looks like some of the guys here don't want ot be intimidated and want to go riding there - so i'm keen to go to keep an eye that they are safe whenever they plan to go pedalling. and anytime in between - just say when

Sounds like fun, but I think it would be better if we leave the cyclists off the route for the day!  Some buzzing would be called for, ESPECIALLY Isuzu bakkies, and maybe some new helmet ornaments

O ja, Pantani, you planning on scraping those sliders or you just a POSER in your leathers????

Man, what a playground argument this turned into.

CR raised a good point about the source of this info regarding blockading the roads, but then ples's remarks about no cyclists entering the Cradle seem to be some form of confirmation.

I hope this meeting is not 'closed' and there are minutes kept for all to be able to read.

It's obvious what needs to be done,

- large groups of cyclists need to be more mindful/considerate of other road users and allowing them space to pass.

- residents need to be more mindful/considerate when coming across riders.

Actually this would apply to all road users, so the issue of blame does not lie with a particular road using group but our lack of consideration for one another as a whole.

Until people can grasp that concept, this issue wont be resolved.

No matter what, threatening riders and defacing the signs, sure as hell is not doing anything to help the situation.

I will be riding in the Cradle this weekend and any other time. Keep the above in mind when calling for decency and respect.

Please refer to CODE RED - Cradle Area, under new topics for info on a very unfortunate incident. Can we take my advise and put issues to bed and move on!

No,

I'm verry sory but you guys are all a bunch of ignorant chops...

I went to teakplace for the first time this morning to do a bit of MTB.

We had to dodge just about every cyclist on the road. there were two cyclest traveking in oposite directions, so far into the road that we almost had to come to a standstill not to hit them. So I wondering if Dave is realy such a loony as you all make him out to be...

Hopefully with Mr Pluss, (sorry not sure if the?L should be there) or is it?Mr Ples, handling the Marketing for the area in such a positive way, there will be no residents left staying in the Cradle area any longer. Then us CYCLISTS, will have the roads to ourselves anyway.

I checked my records, and clearly you are from the 'Homo' erectus lineage, however you were banished out of the bachelor troop for eating off the 'Tree of Dorks' and over endulging on marula fruit. Regards Mr Ples spelt P l e s.mr ples2010-01-16 09:51:48
