  2. Here is a profile for the road section of the reserve. 58km with almost 1200m of climbing. (that day we did two laps). its all tarred, with a good surface. the final climb is tough, but all in all its a wonderful route. To get there is easy, just take the N3 to Heidelberg, and take the turnoff where Suikerbosrand is marked. Turn right and travel about 6km to where you see the entrance on the left. Its about R50 for two people and a car for the day. Give them a call for any more info: 011 904 3930/7/9 Enjoy!

  13. Yeah thats me!! i cycled most of the race with him! In the road section our chasing group picked him up after about 30km i think. Comming out of Muldersdrift him, myself and a cyclelab guy got dropped on the climb, and the 3 of us paced hard to catch up with the rest of the small group. Him and i then chatted a few times along the route. Then into the MTB race we came out of the transision together, and kept on passing each other on the trail. Not sure on our final positions, but it i must say it was very nice racing with him, he paced hard and always did his bit! PM me your mail address, and ill mail it to you in hi-res.

If you want the best shoes, go for Sidis!! Seriously for MTB i would not touch anything else. I have had my pair since 1997, and they are still working perfectly, including the ratchet on the side. They were the only riding shoes owned for about 5 years and they were worn daily, then I used them to commute every day for two years in London, and now they get used every second weekend or so. they are still functioing perfectly, and if the ratchet does go, they are easily replaceable. And with Slipstream closing down, im sure you can get a nice pair at a very good price. That or try Chris W cycles, they have some excellent prices on thier site.
  24. I had a look at the Cape Storm stuff the other day at thew shop @ Grovner Crossing when i was wanting some new Helly's. It looked really nice and ill give it a go some time soon. But i found some some Nike DRI-FIT long sleeved shirts at Meltz for R119 each, so i got myself 2 black and 2 white, because i know the Nike moisture wicking stuff is realy good. These are the closest thing i have found to my Helly Hanson top, that as you say are far too expensive in this country. i wear them under a short sleeved cycling top with arm warmers over the sleeves, and thats cosy for me in temps down to about 3 degrees. if its colder than that i wear a long sleeved winter shirt with one of these DRI-FIT 'vests' under and im warm enough. I raced Bela Bela with one under my shirt and i was comfortable the whole time, even when it warmed up. I also found them great to spin in, just pull the sleves up when you get hot, and because its a shirt not 'underwear' you can wear it around the gym, or after a ride no problem.
