  1. Hairy, you have bought all this Boost nonsense. You can get perfectly adequate clearance on a non boost bike my bra. Its a 29er invention, just like carbon rims and wide bars :-)
  2. Its ludicrous cr@p isn't it. Wonder who writes it for them...
  3. Obviously if you a cyclist you need to marry a woman the same size as you, preferably with a large bank balance, though. For this training bike thing to work, that is. I got it totally wrong.
  4. I like the idea of this bike. I think you are spot on re the seat tube angle. i'd like to see it at 140mm rear, 150mm fork, 67 degree HTA and 75 STA. If its not available in an XL then I'm not interested either.
  5. Yep, things are definitely looking better... I wonder what the new Anthem 27.5 trail/XC bike will be like?
  6. Thanks, interesting re the weight. I saw one at the shop this morning looks - good. I feel better about my XL 160mm Enduro which comes in at about 14 kg with heavy DX pedals, Pike, mudguard, bottle cage and heavy rubber. Carbon front triangle of course - and proper 26" wheels :-)
  7. Alert - "Ad Speak" overload. Beware of 'The Nest" - its a coming....
  8. 13.1 kg claimed! What was the actual weight, with pedals?
  9. Okay, nice article, great race, loved the whole event, but for crying in a pit latrine, can the competitors actually get their results. Please ...
  10. The US retail industry is loving SRAM for doing this. Some say they will now stock SRAM and "why isn't Shimano doing the same" What they forget is that SRAM sold the products to CRC et al quite happily in the first place and no doubt get huge sales via those channels. One of the yank shop guys claimed it was like the USA standing up to cheap Chinese steel imports. Maybe I am ill informed but I didn't know China bought US steel and then sold it back to the US for less? ...
  11. What makes Helderberg and Steilte so cool is that the XC track climbs generally have a lekker gradient and are easy to pedal up if you are reasonably fit, even on an enduro bike. Its a bit of a maze of trails though. I've done two enduros and two shuttle days there and still rode some tracks I'd never seen before last Sunday... Moridin - time for a longer fork on that bike, or maybe a trail bike?
  12. Time to make every road race an enduro - you know a roadie enduro - they call them time trials I think... No bumping into each other then. :-)
  13. Just had my wife's suspension serviced by Andrew at Stoke. What a pleasure.
  14. Yes, its a joke. i got a Pike RCT3 for around R9k last year from Germany. They are still available on the same site for almost the same price. R19k at CWC - what are these smouse smoking??
  15. Yep, been a part owner there for 16 years. There was also a spate of vandalism - our water supply being a target twice. Managed to get the outboard perps convicted but I never got mine back. The same criminal burned down a house because he could not get into the secure store to steal their motors...
  16. Noticed a slow down in speed for the last week or so in CT. No way my puny 4k line is running even at the claimed speed right now...
  17. Hackster you jest, but despite the almost 0 population there is terrible crime at Vermaaklikheid. Hold on to your outboard motors, gas piping, weed eaters... - the list goes on. Great place though despite the ***.
  18. Well done guys, this is brilliant! CT is really getting on the mtb map again - moving in the direction Stellies has been for some time.
  19. James, are you a product tester for Csixx? Csixx is a great SA and Cape Town brand, but the pricing has always put me off. For instance, you can get a 35g One Up chain guide from CRC for around R380.00 . That puts it in perspective. An extra R1200.00 to save 10g. Mmmmm, no thanks.
  20. How about a 50% discount on one of these babies :-)
