  1. 21m is still plenty long. Enjoy. Yip, Arbor Supply imports them. Oooh, that reminds me, I still want/need a Silky Pocket Boy.
  2. As long as possible, but as short as necessary. Mine is a 240mm, but go longer if unsure.
  3. I don't think battery tech is there yet for larger scale operations. That being said, I won't be surprised if we have a battery powered chainsaw in our fleet in a couple of years. I've found myself reaching for one of the smaller saws a lot lately when I need to work inside trees. Sidenote, do yourself a favor and get a Silky saw as well. My Silky gomboy does most of the sawing work in our garden, and I usually only start a saw when I prune trees. http://www.silkysaws.com/Silky_Saws/Folding-Straight_2/Silkys-GOMBOY-210mm-MED-Teeth-Hand-Saw
  4. Maybe that will remind the motorist to switch to dims. The headlamp is more for me to see where I put my feet down, so it will be angled down. For trail running a bright light is a no-brainer, but our road surfaces aren't that great either.
  5. see SWH has something similar. https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/civvio-running-chest-light I've just dug this hi viz jacket out of my work bag, it needs a wash, but this might just solve my viz problem if it isn't a las to wear when running.
  6. How do you stay visible when running in the dark? I started a bit late last night and finished on the dark. Running down Spook bult in the dark wasn't bright of me, fortunately I saw neither cars nor ghouls. I have two headlamps that I'll test to see which one I prefer for running, but I reckon some form of hi-viz as well won't go to waste?
  7. I read that in my Faithless voice.
  8. Wel dan gaan ons net spur toe. Ps: moenie my naam ydel gebruik nie.
  9. Jis I'm amped for this event. The Grease Monkey and I plan to do the Mouton's Valley loop on Saturday morning, followed by Buglers Post after lunch. We may have to take a shortcut on the afternoon ride if Mouton's destroys us, but we'll see how it goes.
  10. I used to be an inov8 disciple, but I tried an Asics trail runner and I liked it. A lot. So I bought it. Then my last pair of inov8 snuffed out and I needed a pair of road shoes, while not really able to afford it. I run more road than trail (Wifey prefers road, and she looks like fire in tights,) and I cringe when running road on my trail knobbies. So I bought a pair of Adidas Duramo off a sportsman's warehouse markdown table, and I'm enamoured with how nice they run. So much so that I will definitely try an Adi pair when I need to get new trail shoes. But when that time comes I reckon I'll pull into one of the specialist run stores and try on everything I can, because being a brand disciple (and a snob) just puts blinders on yourself.
  11. Now the other Yeti riders will see that you are not a real dentist. We saw you coming from that first pinkbike article about it. You didn't disappoint. Ps: your friends are jealous. Although I'll build my robo-jockey with a shimano cassette.
  12. I used to work in retail sales planning. We were able to drill down into the sales on colour and size level. And yet our planning manager always warned against getting lost in Analysis Paralysis. It's easy to get caught up in data, but damn it's lekker comparing my activities over time.
  13. The problem with hero flow trails is that you get humbled quickly when you ride a different trail, happened to me this weekend in Stil Baai. I got humbled twice. On the same corner. On a trail that I know....
  14. The Origin of Trails is also one of the main fund raisers for the Stellenbosch Trail Fund. So there is a definite profit motif, and it's not a bad thing. Enjoy it, it is a fantastic event.
  15. Yesterday when I packed my toolbox into the trailer for the weekend, I realised that the little box for traveling wil cost more than a little sum of money to replace. Not too mention the Gedore toolbox and the box toolbox with all the random tools that doesn't travel with me. I'll need to take stock and go through it. Probably a good idea to update my home contents insurance.

  17. Fair enough. A date is a date. No matter what is consumed. But braaiing in a lapa in a Highveld storm sounds like a good date for this capey. I think I prefer not eating steak in restaurants because it is something that is very easy to replicate at home, but for the life of me I have yet to replicate a good pork belly or the like at home. So I'll braai steak at home, but eat line fish or pork belly at a restaurant.
  18. Nee man! How do you screw up steak so badly that your wife would rather eat out than have one braaied? Hope you had a lekker steak tonight, but that it inspired you to braai it next time.
  19. Our local checkers hyper on a weekend is close enough. I no longer go there at month end.
  20. Faure waterworks climb?
  21. 35mm yesterday http://lognet.saeon.ac.za:8088/Dwarsberg/index.htm
  22. It is like Tygerberg Black. Don't be put off by the colour Not too technical, and risk is mostly due to speed.
  23. Bear in mind that Banhoek and Boschendal can be risen on one permit. So you can combine both for a big day out. Or do it like we did, ride Banhoek, have coffee at Boschendal, ride Boschendal, have lunch at Boschendal. Especially with autumn here this does not have to be an early start anymore.
