On what brakes are you using the pads?
  3. Now that you mention that, the SL929 follows a similar geometry as the A9C.
  4. Een awesome fiets! Soek 'n Air 9 C met 'n seer hart. Gelukkig is die EMD9 build amper klaar.
  5. Save a bit more and wait for the new Niner frames to arrive in November. Check out the site for details. Air 9 Scandium is out, in with the Air 9Alloy Hydroformed tubing. Besides the new frames looks ten times better than the current ones, not that the current ones aren't good looking, just a bit dated. I would also recommend putting yourself up on the waiting list as the first batch is going to go fast.
  6. Not to twinkle on our battery DD. Just over 10kg for that build sounds seriously optimistic. I'm currently building a Niner EMD9 with 2012 XT 2X10 Groupset and Reba RLT Fork with ZTR Crest wheels with Race King 2.0 Foldables with SLR Seat. Aluminium stem and seat post. Estimated weight will be around 10.8 kgs with eggbeaters if i'm lucky EMD frame weight is 1530grams if i'm not mistaken. The Momsen alloy frames are very heavy, but also you get what you pay for. When looking at Momsen I would rather go for the frame sets like the SL929 with Reba fork or the new SL729 Carbon frame with 2012XT group set ERP : 25,000.
  7. +1 on Niner!
  8. Training centre also has no issues running on OSX Lion.
  9. +1 You are very fortunate!
  10. And what about XX vs. RL ?
  11. Sorry to hear. How was the bike stolen?
  12. Ek weet Bester Cycles by Waterkloof Lifestyle Centre verkoop hulle.
  13. What is included in the deal?
  14. Went from spinning bike to IDT, best decision ever!
  15. What I do regarding to extra weight : Train in the week on IDT, with HRM monitor( i.e.. extra weight on ankles will make no difference imo) Weekends I do Groenies or whatever with extra weight( camelbak with every possible gadget to fix bike with and extra liquid), and see the session as an all out sprint. My PB loops at groenies is done with no extra weight( same weight/setup as in a race situation), and is seen as final prep for a priority race, what I then do is use the PB course on my edge 500 and try to match that time with the extra weight while training through the season. i.e.. the PB gets better through the year as the added weight sessions start overlapping the race setup times.
  16. .With my femur length( from ground up, can't remember length ) , a 180mm crank is advised. Inseam is 920mm. Did allot of research on crank arm length, so hopefully it works...
  17. I'm building up a 29'er with 2012 XT 26-38 Compact crank with 180mm crank arms. All black. If the changing sizes seems to be a problem I will either get the 38-40 or the new three chainring setup to get the 42/32/24 close ratio crankset. The nice thing about the 2012 f/d shifter is the fact that they are easily converted to 3 speed shifters.
  18. New frames will be available in November, so it's a early Christmas in my books! Air 9 is now an Alu frame, anodized and is also +- 100 grams lighter than previous frame. Wonder what the prices will look like
  19. Baviaanskloof op roids!
  20. How about something like this ? https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/6860-silverback-surplus-2-carbon-xt-r11-500/

Monorail crossmark combo is a very good rule of thumb to start off with. That combo is very good for something like groenies/ fountains like terrain. Where a Monorail Raceking or a Mountain/ Race-king combo works very well for places like Harkerville with damp Knysna forest mud/ground where the MK really sticks in the corners. I have been using the foldables tubeless with no hassles since the start of the year and am very pleased so far. Unlike the foldables form Conti that can be troublesome at times. Another tire that is looking really promising for the 29er is the Ikon, which is only availalble in 29er format. Definitely a front tire i would be trying out soon with my first 29er build. As far as I know the Monorail is not available in 29er format, but the Crossmarks are.
  23. Smolster ,what pads are you using currently?
